To the disgruntled Republicans and the "independent" hating the GOP, you forget that the Democrats are the big tent party.

Let's be honest: the average American though Trump and Ben Carson won that debate. Only people who post on MapMaking forums think Kasich won.

True.

At least Jeb Bush is in second place and not Carson/Cruz.

Yeah, this is a more reputable company than Survey Monkey, but still.

Oh, the irony. Anyway, if you think that Trump will win the nomination and hand the White House to Clinton, don't celebrate too early. Smiley The party would unite behind a single establishment candidate before this were to happen.

Fortunately, the Trumprunner has not ruled out an independent bid if the Republican establishment decides to play dirty tricks and deprive the voters of their choice.

That's exactly it: The voters will not choose Trump once the GOP rallies behind a single candidate.

Oh, come on. You've got a (very good) SurveyMonkey poll, this Morning Consult poll, the latest Reuters poll, and a PPP Iowa poll, all saying basically the same thing. How many more do you need to be satisfied?

Averaging together gains/losses from the Iowa PPP, Arizona, Morning Consort, and SurveyMonkey polls we get:

Fiorina: +4.75
Cruz: +3.75
Carson: +3
Rubio: +2.75
Huckabee: +1.5
Paul: -0.25
Trump: -0.5
Christie: -0.5
Kasich: -1
Bush: -2
Walker: -5

Fiorina and Carson gain in every poll.  Cruz gains (and by a lot) in 3 out of the 4.  Nearly all of Rubio's gains are from the Arizona poll, the other 3 show him with little to no change.

Every poll has Walker losing big.  3 out of 4 have Bush losing.  Trump's results are erratic, one poll shows him gaining a lot, one shows him loosing a lot, and 2 show him remaining where he is.

I'm surprised there's not any bump for Rubio.  He won that debate hands down.

Looks like I'll probably be voting Libertarian again.  If Trump is the nominee, I hope Clinton wins.

I'm taking the PPP Iowa poll as fact, while not trying to extrapolate national numbers out of it. The Reuters poll from Aug. 3-7 shows Trump leading by a much smaller margin than Survey Monkey or this one, I don't see a more recent Reuters poll than that.

(Scroll down in the Reuters topic to see the Aug. 7 numbers, the numbers in the OP are pre-debate)

looks like Trump is running in place, while Bush and Walker are falling like rocks, and once again, Atlas is an imaginary place where Kasich won the GOP debate. Surprised to see Paul not really fall at all despite having the worst performance - someone got it right, he hit his floor a while ago.

The Reuters numbers were "conducted between the end of the debate and Sunday.

The GOP establishment does not have any control over individual primary voters and those people want someone who talks like Trump, which is why he talks the way he does.

Trump has changed his entire political positioning, but to be fair to him, he's always talked in that way.
