An absolutely despicable human being, the only worse people being his mindless followers.

An absolutely despicable human being, the only worse people being his mindless followers.

You just described Trump and his supporters.

I don't agree with Bernie Sanders on anything, and yet I think he is a genuine and good man.

Look, Bernie has supporters who are concerned about the growing wealth gap and too much money in politics. While I don't believe anything can be done about money in politics because of the first amendment, and while I don't agree that we should focus on making the rich poor to close the wealth gap, I am not going to deny that these are legitimate issues. The thing is, Bernie is not attacking his opponents. He is talking about issues. The comparison between Sanders and Trump is unfair, Sanders actually has a vision policy wise. On the Republican side, most of the candidates do as well, Trump being the major one without a vision.

In fact, I'll even go a step further. Bernie identifies income inequality as an issue. GOP candidates Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio, and others have talked about ways to grow the economy, Governor Bush in particular has discussed a "right to rise" so we can have a larger, vibrant middle class. Donald Trump hasn't even identified the right problem - he thinks immigration is a problem despite illegal immigration being down and legal immigration being a net benefit to the U.S. and he's said trade, which has allowed for less costly goods and better paying jobs, is a big problem.

Sanders is completely wrong on solutions, but he knows something about the challenges we face. But this thread is about if he's personally good. You don't spend decades of your life in public service without being swayed by special interests because you are "despicable."

No- clearly,he is a narcissitic piece of garbage... no man older then me should be running for President. I doubt he can wipe his own ass.....
He has an anger about him that is very off putting-

You sound as though you might have some off putting anger as well.

Personally, I like him, because he's blunt and honest and sincere, but ideologically, no, of course not.

I think he's more passionate than angry, and I don't think his passion clouds his judgment. He was an excellent mayor of Burlington, and in the Senate has not really lashed out at others personally to my knowledge. It's all about policy with him, which is OK. That is what the public square is all about - or should be.

Would I vote for him , not unless the Republican opponent was Trump. But I do think he is a good person so I would like him.

Definitely. He's clearly very committed to the causes he believes in, he's an effective messenger, he doesn't seem to be out to enrich himself or for publicity, and he speaks with an extremely pleasant, calming Brooklyn accent. I would never vote for him, but I have a great deal of respect for him.

Yes. If Hillary wasn't in the race, I'd definitely be supporting him whole-heartedly. That being said, he probably has the third most annoying fan base of all the candidates, only after Trump and Paul.

...and Hillary hacks on these forums complain about Trump/Paul/Sanders supporters while they make comments like these and completely ignore the fact that Hillary has mishandled top secret information emails as just being a faux scandal.

What a joke.

Not at all. He's crass an nasty. I'm half wondering if him and Donald Trump are actually the same person wearing a mask. Has anyone ever seen the two of them together somewhere?

Haha, he seems perfectly nice but it's weird that you all imagine him as some nice normal guy. His whole adult life he's been a socialist activist. He's probably dull as hell and like only listens to Pete Seeger and Utah Phillips.

He was Dems contigency plan, since OMalley or Biden didn't work out. I respect him, but he isn't a strong contender like them.

You sound very jealous of, and intimidated by, Bernie Sanders.

If he ends up winning the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination…how will you handle your general-election vote?

No, I don't care for his elitist personality. Every time he's interviewed it's always "The majority of people agree with us!". Just shut up with that.

You know, he's allowed to say things if they're true.

Love the man personally and love his politics, but his followers are almost enough to turn me off of him singlehandedly.

They are almost as bad as Ron Paul supporters in 08 and 12.

No offense to anyone here that legitimately believes in his message of course. I plan to vote for him Smiley

The appropriate word is "populist." "Elitist" doesn't make any sense in this context.
