Would be ironic if she lost her House seat too.

Would be ironic if she lost her House seat too.

It would have to be an exceptionally horrendous night for the GOP in order for that to happen. She's a pretty good fit for my district, and she won by over 20% last time.

I know, but it is the kind of suburban, highly educated district that the DCCC is targeting and might turn on Trump faster than usual. Or maybe I'm completely confusing it with a different district.

I wish Jo Ann Emerson would run. I will probably support her if she runs.

I wouldn't support her over McCaskill, but she is the most sane of the Missouri Republicans. FF.

Tilt D.
Yes, Missouri's a strong R state now, but:
-Incumbency
-Trump midterm
-McCaskill is an energetic campaigner, not like Casey 2012
-She's also been focusing/sponsoring more nonpartisan legislation, like easing punishments on whistleblowers

Anyway, a cursory search for Hawley's scandals brings up this.

https://medium.com/@MissouriDems/an-alleged-pay-to-play-scandal-is-growing-but-josh-hawley-is-still-silent-lets-break-it-down-ed3886148ca5

Of course, it's written by MO Dems, but this seems to hold at least some water.

On another note, how much will this election affect Galloway's election in 2018?

I doubt we'll be seeing the same "McCaskill funds the primary opponent most beatable" strategy again. It was innovative in 2012 but people know McCaskill will do it now, and so it's easy to make a counter ad (by Hawley or something) saying "Vicky Hartzler has support from this 'conservative' PAC. But it's actually funded by Senator McCaskill. McCaskill's lying again" and so on.

Trump's still fairly popular in Missouri, as I recall, so I still think this will be a big ol' money fight.

Maybe McCaskill can reverse-McCaskill Hawley by donating to him...

The nomination is Hawley's if he wants it. But does he?

"Josh Hawley: handpicked by the Washington establishment to take away your healthcare" or some other little attack like this might be worthwhile for McCaskill.

I still think GOP is making a mistake preffing this guy over Wagner. But we'll see
He might be a paper tiger, for all we know.

It's the fact that MO/AR/La which had Landrieu, Blanch Lincoln and McCaskill, are all gonna go red with 6 GOP senators. The states are polarized.  But, the polarization didn't happen in 2016 like it should have in OH, PA, and WI.

But, we will likely continue to see that trend continue, polarization of the states well into 2020 (CO and NC) and 2022, when Dems will likely see better gains.

Funny thing is, had 2016 gone slightly better for the Dems, Missouri and Indiana could've been represented by only Democrats in the Senate.

Career criminal Josh Hawley is in trouble!

"Air Claire" Flight 2018 will successfully land again.

I'm kidding obviously, but Hawley is making rookie mistakes here. Voting where he shouldn't, talking about future ambitions, etc. If McCaskill wins, it's because Hawley will die a death by 1,000 cuts.

Hawley is exactly the sort of overly-ambitious, climbing, skeevy swamp creature that gets praised for seeking higher office that a female version of him would be criticized for doing.

McCaskill's husband is in the ICU for heart surgery per her twitter. I hope he gets better. If doesn't, I could see McCaskill retiring. Morbid, I know, but something to consider.

Dems would likely have a better shot of holding the seat if she did retire, assuming Kander took her spot.

That's what I was thinking, too. In response to their "handsome youngin' candidate," we bring out "handsome youngin' candidate." Except ours has a gun instead of a bottle of wine.
