Ron should disown his son. A Paul only getting 4% in a straw poll is embarrassing.

Maybe he'd adopt Jeff Flake instead.

Wow, did Lincoln Chafee use some of his spending money to buy a few supporters?

Bernie well over 50% now. He's giving Hillary a good thrashing.

I don't know, but apparently his campaign managed to scrape together enough money to fly him to Iowa to attend the fair in person:

I don't know how they managed that.  Will they be able to raise enough $ to pay for a return ticket, or will he have to hitchhike back to Rhode Island?

Maybe he can carpool with Webb and O'Malley.

They might stumble into a debate in the car that isn't authorized by the DNC.

Don't worry, they could just label it a "mobile automotive candidate forum" and the DNC won't mind. Also, I bet Jim Webb gets shotgun.

Question: How many more miles until we stop for a bathroom break?

Chafee: In my administration, this quantity will be calculated in kilometers.

He probably got a cheap Priceline ticket.

Lincoln Chafee is "in it to win it"!

Translation: he's stuck in Iowa without a way back home until the campaign is over; will likely be couch-surfing until then

Bernie increasing his margin with the fair-people:

53.4% Bernie
40.5% Hillary
  3.9% Martin
  1.6% Lincoln
  0.6% Jim

639 Dem votes cast

Trump remains far ahead with the GOP fair-people:

27% Trump
18% Carson

then a big gap.

1.429 GOP votes cast

Agree with the first sentence. The second one is probably true, but Bernie has momentum right now.

Wait, does this mean that BLTs aren't the best way to eat bacon?

The non-traditional candidates seemed to drop a little in both parties today. I suspect the weekend brought in a different mix to the fair, and it seems they were good for Sanders, Trump, Carson, etc. The numbers since last night seem more like the totals from Fri night.

Resounding victory for BLTs, but the low showing for the butter cow indicate the poll may not have captured a fully representative sample. Still, best to wait for the next round of polling and the results for the ultimate bacon brisket bomb before throwing it in the trash.

Hillary and Sanders are now tied in the straw poll by the way.
