The Office of the Prime Minister

My fellow countrymen,

It is my distinct honor to have been made, by popular mandate and the support of the President, the first Prime Minister of South America. In forming our first Government, we are presented with the challenge of solidifying the civic foundation of our nation. My Party, the chosen representatives of popular conviction, will be joined in this noble cause by Leader Talleyrand and the Social Liberals.

Through negotiations, we have decided on the following individuals to fill the following positions in our first Government:

Prime Minister: Potus2036
Deputy Prime Minister and Special Minister of Lands: Talleyrand

Talleyrand will serve as Deputy Prime Minister, a key role in agendasetting and government management, while also maintaining a special portfolio on issues regarding energy and the environment. The special minister position will expire at the conclusion of this Government.

Chancellor of the Exchequer: Dereich
       Senior Advisor: Vega

The Chancellor controls the finance portfolio. They are responsible for maintaining a reasonable economic and fiscal policy. This position will also facilitate estimation of legislative costs and step in to recognize when legislation is unaffordable.

Minister for Foreign Affairs: Sjoyce

Sjoyce's Ministry is charged with organizing the military and diplomatic affairs of South America. This includes the pursuit and maintenance of recognition with the Republic of Atlasia. The Minister will also manage the Foreign Service.

Minister for Justice: Oakvale

Justice holds perview over legal matters such as criminal justice, immigration, interior security, and nationality.

Minister for Infrastructure: Simfan34
       Senior Advisor: Rpryor03

Roads, bridges, broadband, and laws regarding communications, including language, are under the scope of the Ministry for Infrstructure. Simfan will lead efforts to develop our public infrastructure to promote common wellbeing.

Minister for Social Protection: Blair
       Senior Advisor: Cassius

The Ministry for Social Protection holds the portfolio over matters such as health, welfare, labor, and families.



This Government brings together a fantastic team to accomplish necessary goals. We are ready for the road ahead, and we are ready to get to work.

I do not believe the people are "pigheaded isolationists." no.  And neither does my Minister of Justice.

The truly dangerous, anti-South American sentiment in Atlasia is not a majority, but it is exceptionally vocal. While their views do not constitute the majority of opinion, they do, however, constitute the majority of political discourse.

As Prime Minister, I ask the silent majority of Atlasians, those who want to see their nation brought back from the brink, to speak up and push their leaders to change. My heart hurts for the millions forced to endure the long, socialist nightmare that is Atlasia who lack the political pull to change their country or the financial means to leave it. The thoughts and prayers of all my Cabinet, including the Minister of Justice, lie with those many millions.

It is telling that our government and Prime Minister cares more about the "socialist nightmare that is Atlasia" then he does about governing his own nation - it seems to the observer he and his government have lost all interest in their job - otherwise, how could you explain the total silence from the government regarding any legislation in more than a week! But, how could I forget, it is obviously so far more an important task for our elected officials to lament on and about a country that we have not even established diplomatic relationship with...

You've accused many of us of "anti-South American sentiment", yet you've just vocally attacked our government and made an attempt to influence our domestic affairs with your demagogic cal. It's up to the people of Atlasia to decide what and how to change, not someone who grew bored and switched to another game. If any Atlasian leader said what you've just said, you'd probably be outraged, and rightly so.

Personally, I have no problem with coexisting, and I'm open to have diplomatic relations if we make the process workable (after all, it's all technical issues, not political ones). However, statements like this and of your Justice Minister's are making many of us highly sceptical of your intentions and attitude. Can you be surprised?

Beside, I'd like to point out that you've launched your own political career in Atlasia and gained a lot of valuable experience there. You decided to switch games, that's OK, but that's very low of you to take such a dump on the place you came from yourself. We are not your enemies and we wish you no ill. I, for one, I'm happy to see Mock Parliament board working again. Is this so difficult to find a little good will?

I am proud of having spoken with President Bore and receiving diplomatic recognition from our neighbors to the north. A longer statement is forthcoming.

I don't know if it was or not. Coalition negotiations aren't usually public and as for my drafting of the Constitution Act I consulted with my Cabinet colleagues before submitting the draft to the house, upon which point it was amended by various members of Parliament.

In any event, the government is delighted with the successful nomination of both Hagrid and Hashemite and we've every confidence they'll carry out the duties of their offices with dignity and skill. There's not much else to say.

My fellow South Americans,

As Prime Minister, I wish to speak to you simply and plainly about the emergency in our nation’s capital. As I am speaking, many people, frustrated by generations of backwater economics that has failed to deliver the shared prosperity it promised, have gathered in the streets of Cochabamba. These people express real frustrations about the function of the South American economy, frustrations my Chancellor will within the day announce a plan to begin solving. It is the overriding priority of this Government to promote a policy that leads to shared prosperity and a world-class economy working for all of South America.

However, the legitimate concerns regarding the economy and infrastructure are not legitimate reason to be violent, to harm the lives of others, or to hold hostage the national economy. Following a cabinet meeting, I have decided that South American Peacekeepers, in conjunction with the Church and its affiliates in the region, will be providing crucial aid and assistance to the people of Cochabamba trapped behind the barricades. 

We have a moral and constitutional duty to protect the lives and security of our citizens.  Every action taken by this Government has been to promote this simple goal: to enrich the lives of South Americans and raise their future horizons. This is not just airy rhetoric but the driving force behind this administration. No man, no movement, no ideology retains the right to deprive people of clean water, food, medical care, and other vital necessities. And this Government will assure that these rights are not abridged.

Right now, a nurse is nervously taking inventory of the oxygen tanks in the hospital storage. Right now, the school cook is counting bread and trying to make thin resources stretch further. Right now, the volunteer at the soup kitchen in Cochabamba wonders how much water she will need to thin the soup to make enough for everyone.

While the Leader of the Opposition, who moonlights as a union boss, and the National Congress of Labor attempt to make the struggles of these good people a political affair, this Government recognizes that life must continue. It is the duty of civil government to maintain civil order.

My message to the protestors is clear. Do not become violent. Take down the barricades, and become a stakeholder group in Cochabamba’s future.  What can possibly be achieved through prolonged dispute and hundreds of lost working hours?  Do not let your passions turn into a national waste on the propaganda of the militants.

I hear you. The government hears you. You have spoken clearly. 

The people of Cochabamba are not your enemies. They are your neighbours, your families, your countrymen. Your city and our country will not be build by protests and economic hostages. It will be built by cooperation and a commitment to shared prosperity. That is what this Government is prepared to give you.

I look forward to hearing from your organizers and the Leader of the Opposition. The Opposition has been startlingly quiet in seeking to cooperate with this Government on any measure, social or otherwise. This government is willing to meet with you and hear your concerns, but not under the threat of national chaos. A government held to ransom is not fit for the purpose.

 As the Minister for Social Protection moves forward with the development of a comprehensive safety net to help those less fortunate from the whimsy and swings of the sort of semi-socialized capitalism generations of political leaders have bequeathed to us, I hope to seek common ground and cooperation to deliver this shared prosperity.

Together we shall see through these present troubles to a brighter future.
