Who ran the saddest campaign of the year? Who seemed to really hate being in the race?

I'd say overall Jeb Bush, but Lincoln Chafee is a strong second.

Jeb was supposed to be the prohibitive frontrunner and the eventual nominee, he had the backing of the party elites, the money and he practically scared off Romney from running again. Trump came in and utterly humiliated Jeb instead and eventually Jeb looked tired and defeated and wanted an excuse to drop out.

Jim Gilmore was a governor. The governor of Virginia, the same position Thomas Jefferson held. He was governor of Virginia when Virginia was attacked on 9/11. Couldn't get into the main debate. They let Fiorina and Carson, who were basically just randoms take part, but Gilmore couldn't cut it.

Some may say Walker, but he at least realized he had a dud and quit. Jeb! on the other hand descended into a lack of self-awareness.

Jeb Bush had a lot going for him, and he blew it all.

But then again, I doubt anyone else in his position in this political climate would manage to do better.

Jeb Bush. You could have built a school with the money from his failed campaign.

Which made me very angry, and I am not even American.

Only one man hurt himself today. Only one man has had multiple hilarious suicide things written about his campaign. That is your answer.

UMMM is it close? LOL?! JEB BUSH had over 100 million in the bank before this even started, A HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS and didn't come close in any state and was out after three states after flushing 100 million down the toilet!

Is there any credible argument for another candidate other than Jeb Bush?

Jeb's was pretty sad, but I voted for Walker. I think its pretty pathetic that as loudly and quickly he entered the race to much fanfare and with so many strengths, he just as quickly bowed his head to the establishment and ducked out. At least Jeb tried to actually win.

Chaffee

Close second to Bush, but that debate performance Chafee had was literally the worst of them all, that and him using a car to get everywhere, and being talked out of dropping out by one anchor....

I'm just not sure even Bush's campaign can compare to utter pathetic-ness that was Chaffee '16.

Jebra, who spent 84 MILLION DOLLARS to get 3% in Iowa, 11% in New Hampshire, and 8% in South Carolina. Talk about a big spender.

Why is Jeb so high? The media told me that him and Hillary were in the same position. Doesn't that mean he's inevitable?

Lincoln Chafee. Bush could at least get donations and Super PAC money. Chafee was a block of cheese and couldn't get either (most of the $400,000ish was a loan from himself).

Rubio. Despite the media and establishment constantly pushing him, followed by Bush/Cruz/Anyone But Kasich, he still only won Mondale '84.

I forgot about Lincoln "My dad died, I just got here!" Chafee. He really revealed how out of his depth he was quickly in that first debate.

He might be the saddest because he didn't even have a chance so expectations were already low and he somehow managed to get below those expectations.

I could see a case for Rubio. The media never outright shilled for Jeb to the extent they constantly did for Little Marco. In fact, they seemed to take delight in the Jeb campaign's collapse and enjoyed twisting the knife. Jeb had a lot more money, but as Trump showed us, winning the media game likely has much more influence over the voters than spending the most money.

Linc Chafee. I have no idea who convinced the RINO-turned Independent-turned Democrat with atrocious approval ratings as Governor that he would be a viable candidate, but he was an unmitigated disaster in the debate.

It was sad to watch Jeb's decline, but he can at least be proud that he kept to the high road.
