When opening my company intra-mail account, I got a mail from the CEO of the company I work for (like every other employee with an intra-mail account), about "racist terms/hate speech against foreigners and its consequences".

Recently, 2 big Austrian companies (Porsche and Spar supermarket) - as well as many smaller companies - fired employees because they posted racist stuff about foreigners on social media.

One got fired because of this picture and what he wrote on Facebook below it:



In the picture, there's a 6-year old Syrian refugee girl at some asylum seeker camp in Austria and because it had 100°F the past weeks, the local firebrigade decided to ride into the camp and "showered" the people and children there, to their joy.

But the young Porsche employee wrote: "Not a water hose should be used, but a flame thrower."

...

Now I got an email from my employer which threatens to throw out every employee that gets caught with incitement of hatred in social media platforms or in public.

Any one of you with a similar corporate directive ?

Are you suggesting people in American wouldn't get fired for displaying hate speech?

A Chattanooga woman with strong views about Islam finds herself out of a job and banned from Northgate Mall.

I work for the DoD, I'd certainly get fired if I got caught posting such things on the internet (or on my car windows).

possibly.  I wouldn't be surprised.  Pennsylvania has a very litigious environment. 

It's obviously over-reaction by your employer, but it is not uncommon, these days.  One person gets caught masturbating in the men's room, and the next thing you know all employees get a five-paragraph email about the company policy against masturbating in the men's room.

By the way, I love the picture on the right.  It's beautiful.  I'm no art critic, but the joy is palpable.  I can't figure out what the one on the left is, however.  What does it have to do with your post?

Yes, Tender, we fire people when they are caught making racist comments - it's not just that new-fangled thing called "political correctness" that is sweeping your country now that more than 10% of it is minority. Whether it's in private in real life, in private on social media or in public in one form of another, if it can be proven and is made public, most places of employment will terminate the individual in the US.
