I view this race as the New Hampshire 2014 of 2018. Might as well try.

I don't think Walker would run (he would rather run as Governor than Senator, or he could be president, who knows). Paul Ryan I think is in a cushy position in the house, so I think he's out as well. That leaves Johnson, who's ambitions would be unknown if he loses next year. There's also Sean Duffy, a three term (thus far) congressman from a lean R district who's pretty young, and the state's attorney general (Brad Schimel). Either one of them could make a run. In my opinion those two are the most likely to run, but I could be wrong.

Walker's unlikely to go for it. A loss would be embarrassing (see Jerry Brown in 1982.) Paul Ryan's got congressional seniority, so he's unlikely to go for it. Both elections would be nationalized, which may not be what Republicans want in a federal race in the state. If Johnson lost narrowly, he could be strong, but it requires voters kicking out a Democrat for the Republican they just kicked out. That seems like a hurdle.

Rebecca Kleefisch seems qualified, but might be enough of a blank slate. Although she hasn't had to run an office before. A young woman who is familiar with the cameras could be strong.

Sean Duffy may be the best pick. He's a reality star who will have served four terms in Congress in a district Democrats previously held, in addition to a stint as county DA. Congressmen have solid records defeating Democratic incumbents (See Cory Gardner and Tom Cotton.)

Current AG Brad Schimel and previous AG J. B. Van Hollen could also be effective. Both have been elected to statewide office, and have avoided controversies of the Walker administration or Washington Republicans.

Duffy's the first choice, but the party has a strong bench.

Sean Duffy is probably the Republican's best and most likely get, for reasons that have already been said in the thread.

I don't see Walker running for Senate frankly, but who knows.

Duffy, Walker is not ambitious for a Senate seat and Ryan is happy where he is.

I don't think it's likely for either of them to pick up Baldwin's seat though. Fool's gold.

The GOP, is gonna have difficulty beyond the Romney state dems: Tester& Donnelly to beat any dems, due to Dem pickup of key govs,  in Midwest, like WI & IL, as Rauner is the weakest inc gov running. Plus Walker isnt on Ballot. Eventhough it is a midterm.

Ryan would have the best shot. I think RSCC can make it competitive if they do it right

If 2018 is another disaster for the Dems she could go down just as easily as Feingold did. I would say its foolish to suggest it won't be competitive.

Well, don't underestimate Tammy Baldwin though, she's a really good campaigner. But yeah, she definitely can lose.

Why not drag out Tommy Thompson again? I mean, if Republicans pray for really, really low turnout, he just might win.

Because Republicans don't enjoy losing.

I think Baldwin officially ended Tommy Thompson's career.

I'd say Sean Duffy is probably the strongest candidate of the group that could actually run.

Former Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen is the best choice. He can beat her by 6 points, and if Walker loses in the presidency in 2016 and runs for re-election in 2018, he could beat Ron Kind.

Sean Duffy is the likeliest candidate and has a decent shot in a midterm.

LMFAO! Duffy is an idiot, possibly even dumber than college dropout Walker.

Ryan would fare even worse after his pitiful run as Romney's bitch boy.

She is unbeatable, sorry.
