Kasich just about clinched his departure from the race. He's de facto pro-choice now.
If I'm wrong; if Kasich thrives in this race despite this position, it's a sign that the GOP is seriously willing to offer itself to the Religious Right on a take-it-or-leave-it basis. They really have nothing to lose; the Religious Right won't switch to the Democrats and they're not likely to launch a 3rd party. They're really a lesser-of-two-evils crowd when it's nut-cutting time.
McCain took this same position around 2002 when he was loved by Democrats and flirting with an independent run in 2004. He later switched back of course when he actually wanted to win the GOP nomination. Still, he got surprisingly little s for his blatant flip flopping.
