IronFist, Seinfeld, Jacobtm, etc. There's been a lot of new posters lately who have been very ridiculous and very suspicious. Jacobtm is pro-Trump and suggests Republicans should just become a white party. IronFist just made a thread criticizing women in the military (wtf), and Seinfeld I think made a thread suggesting a test before voting.

Are we being trolled, or are we just getting a dump of posters with really terrible views?

Since Atlas let outright Soviet hard line Communists(TNF, Murica, etc) infiltrate the forum without taking action , the fascists  no have started to come in droves too seeing that you wont be banned from posting such fringe and outright insane posts. This sucks as Centrists or even liberals and conservatives will be  in the minority if this trend continues and the majority will be fringe and insane posters.

I get your point, but censorship should be avoided at all costs, even fringe views deserve to be made, and even if the "majority" is fringe (won't happen), they won't gang up on the mainstream minority because they disagree with each other themselves (I mean, fascists and communists disagree with each other a lot).

The OP makes the same observation that I did about these new posters ("Jacobtm" and "Seinfeld" -- I don't know the third), except to note that they aren't borderline fascists -- they are very much the real thing.

"Seinfeld" cites eugenicist Steve Sailer as an authority in the voting test thread he started. Pretty much all of Jacobtm nonsense arguments about the imminent third worldification of the US can be found verbatim from white identity and "soft" white supremacist websites.

You wonder how long they can last on the Atlas Forum when the objectively nicer white nationalist Robert Stark gets banned on sight.

IronFist vaguely reminds me of IronFeed who was a crypto-fascist lurker on AH.com who never posted but just voted for candidates like Strom Thurmond, George Wallace and David Duke in every election.

I mean, we let Snowstalker run around here for years posting anti-Semitic memes and talking at length about who he wanted to see murdered in the next cleansing terror. I think we can put up with some far-right loonies and their awful beliefs. Anything else would be pretty naked hypocrisy.

I'm pretty sure than some of these are the same person and than a few of them are trolls made by current, former Atlas and AAD members.

I'm not suggesting we ban them. I'm just wondering where they came from.

There have been quite a few simple minded trolls (or posters?) on here lately.

Yes, the proper term for "something I don't like" is neoliberal.

Or, if you're outside a major metropolitan area or college town, "socialist" would be the right term for that.

Fair point.  The Northeast (and a few parts of the Drifess Area) are exceptions to all the traditional rules.

Just a very special part of the rural Northeast actually. The Birkenstock belt has become something of a magnet area for a certain cohort of the population, and that includes the NE corner of Columbia County in NY (lots of gays, and NYC expats who want to get back to nature, while not being too far from more cosmopolitan pleasures (30 minutes away is a nice cheap metro line right into Grand Central Station in Manhattan, rather than the more expensive Amtrak line running along the river that services Hudson)).  Outside this zone, the Dem rural performance tends to drop precipitously.  The boundaries in other words, are pretty "hard" boundaries - almost a wall as it were in many spots.

I'd say it's slightly more complicated than that. A lot of the liberals here are locals who have been influenced by the people coming in (who are from all sorts of big cities, not just NYC), not to mention the fact that the migration started around 45 years ago, so there are a number of adults born in this area whose parents arrived from New York in the 1970s, for example.

Well here in Hudson, many of the locals resent the gentry liberal in-migration,  call them citidiots, and whatever the impact may be, it tends to be in the opposite direction. But then Hudson and the adjacent "urban cluster" is not in the Birkenstock belt per se, although two of its wards effectively are. Smiley But I take your point.
