I vote for Bush. Bush was far more expierienced then Gore in 1988.

I would vote for Gore over say, Stalin. Actually if Gore were the farthest right candidate for president I would be making plans for fleeing the country, not for voting.
Anyway, George H.W. Bush gets my vote.

Gore had he been the dems candidate in 1988 we would have won... I mean if Dukakis held an 17 piont lead over Bush I expect that Gore would have done better than Dukakis and added to that with Bentsen as a running mate I really think he would have won and proably fairly solidly....

He probaly is the better choice out of the two.

Paul is too conservative for me...probably the best nominee the Libs could conjure up fro a long time though.

I agree he is the best nominee the LP could get philosophically speaking. From a purely popularity perspective perhaps (Whew! What alliteration!) Clint Eastwood.
I didn't know Eastwood was a libertarian.

Gore
My primary vote in 1988
mine was dukakis
Things have obviously changed for the better since then.
I voted GHWB assuming my current frame of mind. If I assumed my 1988 frame of mind all those candidates would make me sick and I'd have voted for the socialist.
One constant for me, in my philosophical journey from the far left to the middle, has been my abject loathing for Albert Gore. I didn't like him in1988, the first time I voted for president, and I didn't like him in 2000, the most recent time. I think he may have been far to conservative on the social issues for me, both then and now. On the economic issues, I was never really clear where he stood or what he stands for, except himself.

I think that Gore would have been a very strong candidate back in 88, add a good solid, experienced running mate and I think that Bush would have been defeated by a solid margin... However the race would have been competitive rather like 1976 really, with an incumbent VP against a strong southern moderate challenger so I think a firm Gore win... as for a gore administration I think he'd be likely to be pretty much like Clinton was and while Gore lacked Clinton's charm and charisma i reckon he would be likely to win re-election in 1992, however not by as great a margin as Clinton managed in 1996...

Gore would have won CA. Dukakis only lost it by 3% or so.
