Interesting. I think she'll probably run, though. Even if she doesn't, I'd call it Likely/Safe D unless Coakley runs.

Scott Brown will be moving back it appears. Or maybe that person who ran against Markey will try again, whatever his name was, I can't remember it.

Gomez? He could have had a decent shot if the RNC hadn't abandoned him. Brown was dead since the moment he moved to NH. Can't return to MA with a straight face after that.

Told you it was more likely that she retired after one term than that she ran for President.

She's an economist, not a politician.

I don't really see a Republican winning this; I think 2010 was a fluke. On the other hand, there have only been two open Senate races here in the past 30 years, so it's hard to generalize.

As far as Democrats go, Joe Kennedy III seems like a potential candidate if Warren retires. Maybe Seth Moulton as well.

Agreed. Baker might have a slim shot, but he's going to run for re-election.

Boston Globe said last year Kennedy wants to stay in the House for a while. Healey said she won't challenge Baker. Admittedly both are in a gubernatorial context, but if that extends to a Senate race then Moulton's the obvious Dem.

I think that Warren will ultimately run again. She's obviously very popular with progressives (both in MA and nationally) and she would win reelection with ease. If she retires though, I think Joe Kennedy III could clear the field in his primary and win the seat pretty easily. If he declines, I could see Maura Healey, Seth Moulton, Mike Capuano, or Stephen Lynch trying to run. Only way Republicans could make this seat competitive is if Charlie Baker ran, but he clearly wants to be governor and will run for reelection. Gabriel Gomez could give it another go too, but he would most likely still lose to Warren or whoever the dems put up for the seat.

This will just further the crazy speculation that she'll be Biden's running mate.

She comes across as one of those politicians who wants to focus on their position and the work they are doing now rather than just trying to get re-elected which is something I admire. For God sakes she isn't up for re-election until 2018, why would she be worried about that now.

What does she want to do if she does end up retiringg? Just not be in Washington? Run for president in 2020 or 2024? Governor in 2018?

Presumably she would leave politics entirely.

He certainly has the Kennedy look...I see much of Bobby and Ted in him.

If he decides to take a chance on an open Senate seat, he would be a formidable opponent.

The Dems need to get over Kennedy and see that Seth Moulton is the only Bay Stater with the potential to go all the way to the White House.

Wait, a Kennedy without charisma? Say it ain't so! Next thing you'll tell me is that he hasn't even had a single affair!

In any case, yeah, Seth Moulton would be a better choice for Senator or even President one day. JKIII strikes me as a back-bencher.

Maybe Scott Brown will consider a second comeback attempt?
