https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argentina

Second largest country in South America by size and third largest by population. A country of people mostly Southern Europe in origin. Effectively part of the British Empire in the 19th Century and so in part maintains an absurd grudge with the country, of which the Falkand Islands pseudocontroversy helps keep prominent and alive. Its politics are a mix of telenovela and Kabuki theatre, even by Latin American standards. Was one of the wealthiest countries in the world in 1900 but its 20th century status has been one of constant decline. Its conquest of the 'desert' (Patagonia) in the 19th Century is one of the world's least known about genocides. It's near the top of the list of countries I want to visit despite all that I've said. Below are two maps I found surfing online which are of interest, the first is a map of the contemporary indigenous populations in Argentina, the second is a census map from 1914 showing percentage foreign born.

My mom served an LDS mission there right after the Falklands War (in fact, got her call to be a missionary two days before the war broke out), and she's told me a lot about it, so I have a fondness for Argentina despite its current leader being kind of scummy.

I'd love to visit Buenos Aires. Sadly it's extremely expensive to go there.
