Still, it does seem that the reporter was fishing for the reaction he got. If he's not from America, what business does he have to question our policy?

He is a US citizen, who lives in the US.

Whether it be Ramos or some other reporter for that matter & instigator or not, Trump obviously can't handle too much strife. This kind of back and forth is standard fair for candidates on the hustings.  Trump has proven one thing, and it is this he can't handle anything less than flagellation from todies and yes men. Is this how he is going to respond to hostile & tough questions & have the reporter ejected from a press event?☺

Judging by his debate performance, yes, it is.

Trump 100% did the right thing. That reporter was way out of line.

I thought Trump responded rather well. The back and forth between the two of them later on (after Ramos had gained legal entry to the room) also made Trump appear oddly...sane. I think it is learning.

I wonder how high this will make Trump's poll numbers go up.

A beta male is not winning a GOP primary against Donald Trump.  Come on, Jeb.

Ramos broke the rules and was removed.  Trump had recognized someone else.  Then, he let Ramos back in, but Ramos was basically using a "broken record" technique against Trump, rather than asking him a question that could have been answered.

Ramos wasn't there as a journalist; he was there as an advocate for illegal Hispanic immigrants, and for those who support these illegal immigrants remaining in the US.  Romos, the "journalist" couldn't even acknowledge that these immigrants in question were, in fact in violation of American Law (and in violation of Federal CRIMINAL law if they had re-entered the US after being previously deported.)  Trump confronted Ramos's intellectual dishonesty, and he did so firmly, but with a reasonable amount of graciousness.  Good for him; this display of backbone was long overdue.

Univision CEO Shreds Trump in Statement: Treatment of Ramos ‘Beneath Contempt’

Republicans aren't going to win the presidency in 2016 if they are at war with Univision.

What's beneath contempt is thorough disregard for the right of a nation to enforce the laws it has.  Our immigration laws are NOT unreasonable; they are not something out of Nazi Germany or Soviet Russia.  They are generous, but there are penalties for violating them.  Why should they be made more lax in response to others willfully breaking them?  Please tell me.

The most noteworthy part of the video for me is how Trump dispatched his "bodyguard" to escort the reporter out of the hall.  I think that kind of action could help establish a gangster reputation about him.
"... Anthony Kennedy is a traitor."

"Yes, boss."

I can't really blame Trump for the way he reacted. A reporter has the right to ask a question just like every other reporter, but not more of a right than any other. He wasn't called on, so he shouldn't have kept rambling on like that. Regardless of the policies and discussion at hand, this could have happened differently.

I don't think Republicans were going to have Univision on their side in the first place.

Full video for context:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z0_n-LHv6Xs

Jesus that would make me mad.  Ramos basically heckled Trump.  He didn't even have a question, he was just telling Trump "You can not deport 11 million people, you can not build a wall, you can not deny citizenship to children of immigrants" and then keeps saying over and over "I am a journalist, I have the right to ask a question."  What a little child.  How is this guy respected?

Thank God for Trump just telling him to shut up and having a bodyguard throw him out.  I can only fantasize about what Trump's response to the BLM protestors in Seattle, who were far more obnoxious, would be.  Maybe we should try to get BLM to protest some Trump events just to find out?

Trump didn't have the where to all to defuse an "awkward" situation. He had some muscle to dispatch Ramos. Trump can't handle the heat that adversial situations represent.

Trump didn't want to be done like Bernie Sanders.  I can't blame him for that.  And while the response to Ramos was somewhat heavy-handed, Ramos's use of his press credential to, essentially, heckle the candidate and use his time not to question the candidate, but produce an angry confrontation was unprofessional for a journalist.

In that context, Trump's response was cool and correct.  He brought Ramos back in and gave him a chance to at least try to ask a question, rather than heckle and make a statement, and he responded to Ramos more candidly than most candidates do.  Most people would do the same thing.  It wasn't just that Ramos's question was undulyy argumentatitve, it was also that he cut off the reporter who was recognized.  It was a bit refreshing to see someone insist that someone play by the rules.
