I don't think the establishment will be happy with the reemergence of W. They tried very hard 7 years now to erase his presidency from voters memory.

Dubya is reason for the GOP handicap in natl campaigns & Senate races, nice work Dubya. Obama wouldn't have established the 272 coalition; blue wall without you.

Do you ever get tired of mentioning the non-existent 272 firewall? Wait, why am I even asking?

I can't help but feel like this is really foolish on Jeb's part.

When people realize you're the idiot brother, you need your smarter brother to help you out.

This shouldn't be seen as a big surprise. GWB raised a ton of money and knows lots of bundlers. Of course Jeb is going to tap him to help out. It is a lot harder to raise real 'hard money' and Bush has been running into some trouble with that, as recently reported by Politico....

Remember that the vast majority of Bush's money has gone into his Super PAC. not only does he not have direct control of that money, but Super PACS pay a much higher rate than campaigns for TV time (the biggest campaign expense). And since it looks like Bush is going to have to buy his way back to the top of the polls in NH and elsewhere he needs more 'real' campaign cash.

Great news for Democrats if George W. Bush gets back in the spotlight.

That 45% approval ratings really disprove a lot of these comments.

The whole point his approvals are at that level are because of being out of the spotlight, obviously.

A large part of that is from pulling himself out of the political spotlight. If he does begin to jump back in his numbers will tank as attention is brought to his horrendous record.

I have very high approval of post-presidency George W. Bush. He basically vanished and turned into the urban equivalent of Salinger or something, a recluse who spends life hiding from the public. It's everything I could have wanted from post-presidency Bush when he was president.

I think it's a great move for Jeb!

W is Jeb's brother, and he isn't going away anytime soon.  People know who he is, and they will lose all respect for Jeb if he treats his own brother like a pariah.  People EXPECT W to be in Jeb's campaign; it will beg questions if he's not.

People will be OK with you if you flip-flop on an issue, but if you flip-flop on your FAMILY, you are considered a heel.  Associating with W, defending W and his Presidency will INCREASE Jeb's likability factors tremendously.  It will humanize him.  Campaigns aren't all about logic.  Jeb rehabbing W could be the emotional appeal needed to get folks to actually like him a bit.
