I much prefer the converse.

In theory, I'd agree with you. However, can you name a single national Republican officeholder who's actually fiscally left-wing in any meaningful sense?

In terms of their self righteousness, yes. The ultimate moderate heroes.

Yes, but to support a party that literally hates you is quite silly and counterproductive.

I have a similar cringey reaction to "I'm socially liberal but fiscally conservative" but the real issue with the LC Republicans is how utterly delusional and self-defeating their political priorities always were.

Interesting to see so much support from Atlas Republicans, but do any of the 17 Republicans running for president support "homosexual rights"?

Obvious FFs.  It's disturbing how dismissive liberals are of certain groups if they don't vote for them.  If Hispanics or Blacks ever voted GOP again, the racist comments would fly out of the wood work all of a sudden.  Just look at Working Class Whites.  Liberals of the '60s and '70s praised their hard work and worked hard for their vote ... Once they start voting the other way?  They mock them as morons.

FFs.  It's like no one sees the value of changing a party form within, which seems especially hypocritical coming from Democrats ... They have been a fiscally left party for a LONG time, but they only attained an image of being sympathetic to civil rights during the mid-Twentieth Century.  That never would have occurred if everyone had the mindset "I can't vote for a party that has segregationists in it, so I'm going to be a Republican."  People who agreed with the Democrats fiscally but wanted to support civil rights remained in the party and fought to change it.  I find that admirable.

Log Cabin Republicans are fighting a similar and equally admirable fight in today's GOP.
