To put it mildly: I doubt it. Especially since he made some anti-religion comments before deciding to run for President as a Republican.

I doubt he's on the level of say Andrew Cuomo, who I'm not only convinced is a closet atheist but also privately holds Richard Dawkins-esque opinions, but he's still at least an "apatheist" and some of his pandering comments are a tad amusing, see the "I love the Bible" comment.

He's a fraud. Full stop. Not sure why anyone are taking anything he's saying seriously, to be honest.

Actually, the fact that he isn't Huckabee or Santorum is a plus in my eyes.

I think this video should answer that question:

I really don't care. If someone says he or she is a Christian, that person is a Christian. Who am I to say who a real Christian is?

While I usually agree with that, now that Trump has added talking about the bible to his stump speech, it is a fair question. He wants to get votes using his religion so he has made it an issue.

Only God knows, but it is highly unlikely that he is.

What does "sincere Christian" even mean?  I bet there are tons of "Christians" who would say I'm not a "Christian," but I couldn't care less what they think.

True, though I believe one can be both Christian and horribly opportunistic and pandering with religion.

A few weeks ago, he said something rather controversial at a forum/event to the effect of "I don't ask for forgiveness", which is totally what someone who doesn't care about religion at all would say. In addition, there are some totally contradictory statements made in that video above.

Yes.

If he says he is, I don't care what he does about it. I will not tell a Jehovah's Witness or a Mormon: "You're not a true Christian."

He says he's a Christian.  I'll go with that, just as I don't quibble about Obama's declaration that he is a Christian.  It's up to God as to whether or not their profession of faith in Jesus Christ's death and resurrection as the only Way to Salvation is sincere or not.  Liberals aren't asking that question of Hillary Clinton, are they?

I don't know that I'd call upon Donald Trump to teach my Sunday School class, but unless he publicly renounces Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord, I'll assume that he's got Eternal Fire Insurance.

Can one be a narcissist and live the life the Christ figure as depicted in the New Testament suggests is the way to eternal life? Somehow I doubt it.

I think he may be sincere in being, as Sam Spade calls him, a follower of the gospel of Norman Vincent Peale.

Does that mean someone who leans pro-choice but is a Southern Baptist like me is not a sincere Christian? Tongue

He's probably a nominal/cultural Christian like many Americans.  But I think his statements during this campaign have been pandering.

http://www.politicsdaily.com/2011/01/07/andrew-cuomo-takes-communion-and-revives-the-good-catholic-deb/ I don't see a closet atheist going to these lengths to cover it up in this day and age.
