Wow, disgusting of Jeb to attack another candidate's family like that. He needs to drop out and go back to Mexico with his Mexican wife and anchor baby children.

Is it obvious yet that Bush people are in full panic mode?

Here's the skinny: George W. was the smarter brother. By a long shot.

At this point, Jeb is better off trying to cut a deal with the RNC to cancel the primaries and just appointing him the nominee. That's his path to the nomination.

Trump and Cruz would mount independent campaigns for President in that scenario, assuring a HRC landslide in the general. Jeb doesn't want that.

Good strategy for Bush. It's not like he has any embarrassing siblings who could become a political issue. Roll Eyes

I have 300 shares of not Jeb Bush on PredictIt, and I am now seriously considering doubling down. I was gonna hedge it a little with some not Walker, but it's clear both have zero chance (OK, perhaps Bush is marginal) and shorting Bush is just cheaper.

This campaign has been an utter disaster. People called me out for saying he was the Giuliani of this cycle - that's clearly the far more likely case than McCain (and he's nowhere near Romney '12)

Why do people consider Jeb the smarter one again?

Why do people consider Jeb the smarter one again?

Apparently only because they'd never seen him in action on the national stage before.

Not to be an elitist, but should it not have been obvious that, all else being equal, a Yale legacy with Yale and Harvard degrees would be more intelligent than a Yale legacy with a UT degree? (Not that I don't consider UT infinitely more respectable than any Ivy, but I would not think a member of the American patrician class would agree with me)

Why do people consider Jeb the smarter one again?

I think Jeb takes policy and governance seriously, but he's pretty clumsy when he's in campaign mode (especially when he's on the stump). Dubya's strengths and weaknesses were about the opposite of Jeb's.

Also, it really does seem like Jeb would like to be President, but hates the campaign process - and it shows. It doesn't help that the GOP primary electorate is so hard-right these days, and not as forgiving of transgressions from right-wing litmus tests (unless you're Donald Trump,  in which case, all bets are off).

I'm as snobbish and elitist as anyone else, but Jeb graduated PBK. I think he's all right.

And UT is an excellent school. Furthermore, Dubya wasn't exactly a stellar student while at Yale or Harvard....

I'm not a huge Bush fan, but him saying this is completely relevant. The reason Bush said this was because Trump said his sister would make a fantastic Supreme Court justice. I think it should be a BIG concern for pro-lifers that Trump would be willing to put someone who is EXTREMELY pro-choice on the highest bench.

Well if you're that concerned with family values, the three divorces and casinos bearing his name are problem enough.

People can absolutely be a great student and just be amazingly clueless outside of academia.

The thing you have to pay for? I know I didn't waste that money. Wow, let me pay $100 and get these words on my inevitable Wikipedia page! Jeb is so out of touch. (No offense to anyone on here who did; this is anti-Jeb sentiment)

Seriously amazing he can't translate that Latin American Studies Degree into any Hispanic votes against DONALD TRUMP!

Jeb is equal parts his father's rigidness and his brother's incompetence. Shockingly awful in prime time.

Wow, what's going on with Bush?  Every attack he makes is so weak, nearly every day he has another gaffe.  It feels like his campaign is in a tailspin.

Is that true?  I would have thought of the relatively small percentage of Hispanic Americans who support the Republican Party, that most would support Jeb Bush.

I will say one positive thing about Jeb Bush: at least he doesn't pander to the considerable anti intellectual wing of his party, which was one of defining traits of his brother (who is probably the only anti intellectual candidate to ever win the Republican Party nomination in modern times.)  And even more so, Jeb Bush even basically admits that he considers himself to be a 'wonk' if not an intellectual.
