In response to the recent attempted communist coup, this seems like a very good idea.

Maybe add a provision that, in case something else like that happens again, we should have the ability to deploy the National Guard to other regions in case the President does not send in the Army.

Amendments are friendly. (I need to proofread more...)

First, this is essentially a rip-off of one of Blair's campaign ideas, hence the name. I proposed this after the terrorist upsurge a few weeks ago as a way to boost security in the Northeast, considering have some of the nation's more valuable assets. Since the resignation of dkrol, I'm not sure if it's as necessary anymore, but it looks like it's creating discussion, so I wouldn't be opposed to a smaller amount be appropriated, if anyone wanted that.

I'm happy with the $15m increase - it will allow us to protect the region if there is a major issue, and the Federal Government is as slow to react as they usually are.

I don't have a strong opinion about this sort of thing either way. One thing about these upsurges is that they are almost always deemed not legitimate and their actions as having not happened, like when California was nuked or whatever, or one person goes off on a tear and invents long scenarios about invasions and so on, usually out of boredom or annoyance with someone else.

If this were part of a broader, unified thing where everyone was on the same page and accepted restraints that come with the game I'd see more benefit to it. But just saying we're throwing money at our guard to throw money at our guard is kind of meh. There are also very clear limits on what people can do - no one can actually blow up anything, kill anyone, etc. Stuff like that is always intended to exacerbate personal conflicts or create turmoil, and we usually hit the restart button after it all blows over or flames out. I've seen it several times now.

Abstain.
