I thought we needed a thread for news about candidates dropping out. Perry, Chafee, and some others seem relatively close.

Christie's already mentioned the possibility. If he doesn't make it into the top-tier CNN debate, I doubt he'll stay in.

The guys who have nothing better to do (including Lincoln Chafee) aren't going to drop out. I think the sweet spot for dropouts are people who have real political careers and are damaging their reps with humiliating bids. Bobby Jindal, Lindsay Graham...?(although he seems to be enjoying destroying his reputation), Chris Christie, and Rand Paul are the ones I'd be looking at as likely dropouts in the next six weeks.

Lindsey Graham is a serious possibility, considering he only got in to destroy Rand Paul, and Paul has done a pretty good job of destroying himself.  Jindal might also drop out, considering he does have other options aside from a presidential run.  Paul might be forced out still, if he can't fork over the cash to pay for a Kentucky caucus.

I don't see anybody else dropping out until Iowa.

Christie doesn't have much to lose.  His career in elected office is over after this.  Santorum and Perry will last until Iowa.  They both know last minute surges are possible.  Pataki and Gilmore are in it for the attention, it looks like.  There isn't much reason for either of them to drop out.

I don't see anyone dropping out until September 18th at the earliest (day after debate)
