Obviously Hollande, who is obviously to the left of Bernie Sanders and would only be able to run on some <0.1% of the vote fringe party if he was an American. [/American dumb]

Economically, Hollande. When it comes to foreign policy, Obama.

The left-right spectrum really doesn't apply to foreign policy.

Hollande is more left-wing by virtue of basing his views on France's social consensus rather than America's, but not out of any actual conviction. If he was a politician in the US, he'd be the equivalent of Mark Warner or Andrew Cuomo.

Obama actually has genuinely-held progressive principles, even if they are generally not as left-wing as mine.

Hollande ran (and governed so far) as a cautious moderate; but I dare say so did Obama.

Now here's one thing we can say for certain: Obama has had a far leftier influence on his country than poor ole flanby

How much freedom do the major Euro nations have individually when it comes to economic policy? I would suggest that it is close to none. So why is it relevant what Hollande thinks on economic matters? Indeed is the prime minister in France a socialist? If not, than Hollande is  really impotent on domestic policy. He has about much power on that front as I do. It's just chat. French foreign policy matters more, and on that Hollande has more influence, and to the extent Obama is farther left on foreign policy, when it comes to what matters. Indeed from that perspective,  Obama is farther left on both foreign and domestic policies, because his views on both fronts actually have more influence. Wrong again BRTD!  Tongue

You can't put those two together. Warner is basically a generic D Senator, Cuomo is cartoonishly evil.
