Disappointing but perhaps a calculated political move more than anything.

Good. It's foolish to end the drone program.

Isn't Bernie relatively centre left on foreign policy issues?

Not exactly surprising. Pacifists shouldn't vote for any Democratic candidate.

Good thing the world's pacifists have you to tell them who they should and shouldn't vote for.

If you think drone strikes that do not avoid civilians are ok, you are a war monger

They need to be used responsibly, selectively and with the permission of the nation they are being flown over to hunt down known terrorists. I don't think that makes me a war monger.

Agree with all this except the "permission of the national they are being flown over" part. That's as good as ending them.

He's been very open about his support for imperialism. This is not surprising.

Wasn't long ago I was disappointed by Kasich because of hawkish views being expressed. Lately I find Sanders also making disappointing comments regarding foreign policy as well. Sure he isn't as bad as Clinton and the GOP warmongers, but he sure isn't ideal either. Not even Paul is ideal, but for now he is certainly the best for those who care about foreign policy.

If I were considering supporting Sanders, I'd want to hear more specifics, but as a general statement I don't have too much of a problem with it.

... If you don't mind me asking, how is he hawkish?

Voting against the Serbian intervention isn't exactly hawkish.

"A great power has to have the discipline not only to go when necessary but to know when not to go. Getting involved in ethnic, religious civil wars is a recipe for disaster."

Or the military spending reform? Or... Supporting boots on the ground against ISIS while Paul wants a DOW?

Because its "your" drone program. If it was the GOP drone program, youd be against it

Didn't Chafee say he wanted to end the drone program?  I think he's furthest left of any of the Democrats on foreign policy.

Chafee is also the only Democrat aside from Webb who consistently brings up foreign policy in his campaign. He's bound to attract some former Kucinich and Gravel supporters, but, as we've seen, the doves haven't been a particularly potent force in the party as of late.

The October debate will be far more interesting if Chafee actually qualifies to be invited.  Chafee is an attack dog against Clinton not just on foreign policy, but on a host of other issues, while the others have been rather restrained in their criticism of her.  He's at 0-1% in the polls, but whether he gets invited or not could actually have a big impact on how the debate goes.

Chafee's admittance would certainly give the debate more substance. With that said, he'll probably think that he'll be delivering his attacks on Clinton with the passion of Mike Gravel when it's really delivered with the whimper of Lincoln Chafee.

I think completely ending the program would be an overreaction, anyway.
