I think this is a good direction to be moving in. Certainly Tom Barrett is terrible on many things, this is not one of them.

IL enacted a law this year that sets uniform standards for police body cameras. The law doesn't mandate cameras, but does enhance a fund from criminal and traffic fines that will provide grants to local departments to get body cameras (previously just for vehicle cameras).

This, but there needs to be national standards to keep the footage secure and only accessible by the justice system and internal affairs. There's a lot of police conduct that is perfectly acceptable according to the law, but not according to Anonymous and BLM.

That's why we set it up that way in IL. We already had a fund for grants for video in police cars. We just expanded the fund to include body cameras and increased the portion of the criminal and traffic fines that fill the fund.
