The state auditor is a popular Democrat who is seen as a rising star in Democratic politics. Can Adam Edelen be the next Democratic senator from Kentucky in 2016, or 2020?

No. I usually enjoy Rachel Maddow as entertainment, but she's up her ass on this one.

No, the Democrats' chances for victory decreases with every passing year.

If he wants to run for Senator (and I understand he does) he shouldn't have run for reelection.

First, because it means if he wins, his replacement will be an unelected person, at least for awhile.

Second, because he may lose his reelection bid.

He needs to run for Governor if he wants to win something.

Honestly he should've gone for governor this year instead of Conway cause he's IMO a far stronger candidate (Conway is good but that just speaks to Edelen's prowess).
