Florida has to be the worst 10-1 team in the (modern) history of the SEC.

Well, it looks like Iowa finally cracked the top 4. Kirk Ferentz is cool and all, but not sure I want them in the CFP.

Harry, what is Miss St's problem? They clearly have the talent, but it seems every game they put themselves in an insurmountable hole and only decide to show up when hope is list and the other team us running out the clock. So sad!

We have talent at QB, WR, and DL. The OL is godawful, so it's hard to get anything going on offense unless Dak just wills us to points. We can beat up on bad teams like Kentucky, Mizzou, non-P5s, etc., just by Dak making plays, but good teams with good DLs don't give us a chance at all.

ETA: Neither of our starting offensive tackles played tonight, so a bad OL was even worse.

I didn't watch the Egg Bowl (which may make me a bad Mississippian even though I'm not a fan of either school) but was hoping State would win because I like Prescott and really hate Ole Miss. Looking like Mullen may bolt to Maryland (WTF?) or UGA. Wonder if MSU is still interested in Hudspeth after ULL took a step back this year + the NCAA just announced they had broke some rules under his watch...

IOWA HAWKEYES ARE BIG TEN CHAMPIONS!

Quote

Someone missed the best Big Ten game since the 2013 championship.

The playoff field is set. Will the rankings change though? I hope not.

Looks like we will have a few teams fighting over the last 2 New Years Day slots: UNC, TCU, Ole Miss, Northwestern.

TCU's win vs. Baylor doesn't look so good anymore. Ole Miss beat a conference champ. UNC had a chance and did not. Northwestern lost to one (and very nearly both losses were).

Best Guess?
Orange: Clemson vs. Michigan State
Cotton: Alabama vs. Oklahoma

Rose: Stanford vs. Ohio State
Fiesta: Iowa vs. Notre Dame
Sugar: TCU/Ole Miss vs. Florida State
Peach: At-Large #2* vs. Houston

*if TCU and Ole Miss are both At-Large selections, they will be paired in the Sugar and FSU moves to this slot.

I'll say they don't punish UNC too much and give them the Peach slot for now. Tough call, and certainly not what I'd do. TCU probably edges Ole Miss based on fewer losses too :/

Northwestern and Ole Miss/Oregon would be my route.

The Sugar is contractually obligated to take the highest Big 12 and SEC teams in the CFP rankings that aren't in the playoffs.

So that will most likely be Ole Miss vs. Oklahoma State.

It's a gutwrencher, because it would've been us if we'd shown up in the Egg Bowl.

Ah, I was under the impression, they only took them if they were top 12 (or 11 in this case) because the at-larges strictly follow the playoff rankings. If I misinterpreted the rules, it would still be TCU (not OK St, I'd guess) and Ole Miss, which bumps FSU to the Peach presumably. Poor UNC, not that they really did much to deserve a spot, but that painful end tho!

E: hm, espn seems to be picking OSU as well which I don't get. The h2h loss for TCU destroys them even though they are ranked significantly higher. Not sure I like that.

#2 Alabama vs. #3 MSU
#1 Clemson vs. #4 OU

I think that gets it about right. Sorry to see OSU and Stanford not in there, glad to see ND not in there.

I'm torn between the good of Stanford not going to a playoff while they obviously deserve it.

This BYU-Utah game is horrible.

EDIT: Holy crap BYU almost overcame a 35 point deficit.

Interesting things going down in Big XII country last week that the news really hasn't covered all that much. I really thought all hope was lost for a Big XII conference expansion, but the Big Ten allegedly blocking deregulation that would allow 2 conferences of 5 teams. Thank goodness!

Rice and UTEP are now connected to the MW, but no expansion will happen at this time. I always figured UTEP would move, but I thought Rice might be waiting for either a private school conference or as a replacement for Houston in the American. Not sure why they'd leave rivals if they're not going to get a conference that fits their culture.

Tough loss from USM today in the bowl, but overall pleased with how the year went. We need to beat some decent teams though.

I've heard before that a private school league was in the works but when the Big East (now AAC) picked up SMU, Tulane, and Tulsa it kinda fell through. I will agree that Rice is a very weird fit in CUSA, with them being the only private school in the conference now. I hope they stay however because of their winning baseball program.

This came out a week ago, but ALL THE CROSSTABS!! What would this thread be if I didn't post this on this site.

Still having a tough time picking between Sparty and Bama. I think I'm leaning towards State but won't be upset by a loss.

#1 Clemson vs. #2 'Bama for the title.

Yeah, Alabama is back. Wow.

If the Tide can get that run game going, they will take it. While I don't think it'll be 38-0 like the win over MSU, I do have to pick 'Bama.

Taking Ohio State today, although their D can be inconsistent. They should be able to get their run game going and keep ND off the field. At least that would be my approach.

So I guess the last 48 hours were vindication that the B1G should only ever be represented by Ohio State?

Ohio State would have won this thing again.
