The graphic in the OP has a major error. USC is in the SEC, not the Pac-12.

SoCal, Ernest. South Carolina is rarely abbreviated that way and is certainly not top 25 this year

I was already aware of both facts, especially that the Cocks are flaccid this year. They really ought to be 0-2 rather than 1-1. The Cocks didn't win the opener, the Tar heels gave it away.

Of course, USC sucks.  Not even Steve Spurrier can do more than whitewash the leaden Gamecocks this year.

Even though its "Notre Dame". I think the committee will be hesitant to let in a 1 loss independent team over a power 5 champ.

I don't watch as much football as I used to, but the whole field seems average this year.
That loss was by 2 points against Clemson at Clemson. Notre Dame getting in depends on them beating Stanford and doing so would set up a rematch with Clemson at a neutral site. Granted, only Notre Dame would be given the chance for a rematch.

The USC Gamecocks have gone from bad to worse, losing to the FCS Citadel Bulldogs today by the score of 23-22.
