Is there a possibility of a competitive primary occurring due to Northam's conservatism? Or is that against the laws of physics in Virginia?

In 2009 Creigh Deeds beat now Governor McCauliffe and one other candidate in the Democratic primary for governor

Also Northam has toed the party line since the incident 6 years ago, so I think Democrats would give him the benefit of the doubt.
