Here's my question: Why didn't she just get a deputy clerk to provide licenses if she personally was so opposed? And if her name would still be on the licenses, then perhaps she could have quietly asked the state AG if a special set of licenses could be provided with a deputy clerk's name rather than her name. This whole media circus and prying into her personal life (a personal life that seems to be quite hypocritical considering her "traditional marriage" stand) could have been avoided in a variety of ways.
