Wow, with a stance like this, I have to wonder if he is going to challenge Bernie for the coveted Tender Branson vote! O'M may not have a chance of gaining traction, but he may seriously affect Hillary's rhetoric...lol, nah Hillary knows he's irrelevant and this is meaningless.

Freedom move. That being said, it's never going to happen.

That would be a good start.

It's even less than what Austria takes in this year (80.000) and the US has 40x the population.

Would be good if the US steps up their game, after creating all the mess in the Middle-East (or at least, being responsible for 50% of the mess there).

O'Malley desperately wants to be the voice of the immigrant community.

Do you really think the 65,000 of O'Malleys make a dent in the 75 million killed in the second world war, the 11 million of Syrians currently fleeing from Syria or the 300,000 to 400,000 Japanese civilians killed by your president truely in those horrific days of August 1945, the worst days ever to be alive as a human being?

If the US wanted to make a stance, they'd say that they'd take at the very least 4 to 7 million! Anything less than that could basically be characterized as the second holocaust.

(Too bad that most Syrians are Muslims and not Jews, I guess Huckabee will cry for the remainder of his life.)

65,000 is not nearly enough. But at least it would be a start.

O'Malley desperately wants to be the voice of the immigrant community.

Too bad then that his number is 65,000. 65,000 is like the ant I kicked the other day. It wouldn't even show up in the statistics. It's like 0.5 percent. One in two thousand. Noone cares. If that's all America has to give, then better not! You're not that damn precious, sorry!

What the f**ck!! Are you right in your mind? It's nothing and if you delude yourself into thinking otherwise, then I guess you must be supporting Sanders ardently or something.

99.9% of the mess if you want to be honest. There's nothing to hide, or is there?

Are you okay?

Also, are you blaming the United States for the Second World War?

That's why he said that it would be a good START. And the only one who's out of his mind is you.

Anyway, I would support this proposal as well.

Eric Olso, please don't act like America hasn't taken in tens of millions of people from all over the world. Scandinavian is a Johnny come lately to the subject.

In regards to refugees, Scandinavia has set the standard since at least before World War II.

Are we forgetting that the US told the Jews to go  themselves and literally sent them back to die?

No, we can't make a dent in the number of World War 2 dead, since we don't have a TARDIS.

But this might make a difference to 65,000 people.

I really don't see why this isn't a good idea. 65,000 is a drop in the well in the grand scheme of things. The only issue would be ensuring that the refugees are in culturally-sensitive locations (or at least locations where they aren't inanely stereotyped or demonized by the general populace) and American Syrian communities should be able to help with that.

Send them to Detroit. Seriously. There's a large Levantine population there already, and the city could use the influx. In fact, send a million of these middle class refugees.

There's enough houses there for a lot of people as well.

Indeed there is. The infrastructure is already there. No sticking 6 people into a single bedroom when they can have a whole house. Sure it's a fixer upper, but when houses are going for a few hundred dollars you can't complain. Indeed, if we took in 3 million over the next 5 years we could revitalise the Rust Belt while implementing a genuinely humanitarian policy.

Rubio says he's "open" to supporting an increase in the number of Syrian refugees the US takes in, so long as there's a screening mechanism put in place to make sure none of the refugees are part of a terrorist organization:
