Yes.

Unless there is a competitive senate or governors race, we are largely left alone. I happened to be in a swing state during the last election briefly and it was absolute hell. Couldn't go online or watch TV without being bombarded by every type of stupid, repetitive ad under the sun.

People just come here to raise money and leave most people alone, so overall I enjoy observing the chaos from afar without being annoyed by politicians sweeping through the state pretending to care about us or clogging up the airwaves.

I guess I enjoy not being bombarded with ads, but I wish the electoral college didn't exist so my vote would actually count.

Considering it's the swing state that nobody wants to recognize, yes.  Gore only took Michigan by 5 points in 2000, and Kerry only won here by 3 points in 2004, yet somehow people think this is a solidly blue state.  I don't know how Michigan could go from a swing state in 2004 to solidly blue in 2012, especially since 2008 and 2012 were strong D years nationally.  And if that doesn't convince you, I'll give you five more reasons Michigan is a competitive state:

1. Rick Snyder
2. Ruth Johnson
3. Bill Schuette
4. GOP-controlled state House
5. GOP-controlled state Senate

My state only gets attention when it's trying to undermine the teaching of evolution, so no.

That being said, it is really nice being able to watch TV without getting bombarded by presidential ads.  A far cry from the days when people used to care about our neighbors in Missouri.

My state arguably gets too much attention. I mean, NYC is just constantly in the national news. The media reacts to what goes on there, because they live there.

I get a lot of ads mostly ones meant for NH, but I'm fine with the attention I wish our elections were closer though Tongue

My state gets a good deal of attention during the primaries and many candidates show up. We still get some ads during the general election, but nothing like real swing states, obviously. That's what I like about Georgia; it's voting margins are partisan enough to be considered beyond a swing state, but still close enough to get to experience some of the action.

My former state is a solidly Democratic stronghold, so my vote often feels pointless.

This state is a swing-state, so all the annoying ads are in play during the General, especially back in 2012.

It's also right by the Beltway too, so the stuff leaving there ends up in NoVA.

You really want more Bush and Trump ads?

Right now I think everyone on the internet is getting bombarded with Lessig ads.

Maryland is fine, but I am deeply dissatisfied with the political attention that Virginia gets. Off-year elections are an instrument of Satan.

Yes and No, Yes because I want to be a little more informed about local and state politics, and No because I know every time Oklahoma is in the news, its fairly embarrassing.

Yes and No, Yes because I want to be a little more informed about local and state politics, and No because I know every time Oklahoma is in the news, its fairly embarrassing.

Florida's pretty much in the same boat as well. Plus, Florida usually gets really awful candidates, as well as elections. Take for example, last year's Gubernatorial election. One of the most hated governors runs against his predecessor, a flip-flopping turncoat who suddenly went to, in his words a "Reagan Republican", to a full-fledged Bleeding Heart Democrat. Florida has AWFUL candidates, as well as quite boring elections. It's a surprise that we've gotten some resemblance of OK candidates. Also, the FLDNC? What FLDNC? Right now, I'd say, is the ripe time for rising stars in the Republican Party. One thing though, as much as they say that we're a swing state, the most memorable TV ads that I've gotten was in 2010. Sure 2012 had some presidential ads, and a Senate ad here or there, but that's it. We really need some interesting politics going on. And by that, I don't mean scandals 24/7, just some genuinely interesting elections with very electable candidates on BOTH sides.

I'm surprised that most people seem to not want that much political attention in their state. I'd love to have North Carolina be like IA or NH in the primaries, then I could meet/watch all the candidates. Same thing with OH and PA in the GE.

It gets enough.  Sometimes it gets attention for less-than-great reasons.

Third-ed. We only seem to get attention when our politicians are going to prison. Even when we have big election (Gov 2014, Sen 2016) I feel as if we do not receive comparable attention in the polls/etc.
