Total embarrassment; completely twisted, sick, evil policy.  I hope that the Australian public will come to see just how disgusting this really is.

They won't.

Also, seeing as the navy has been found literally paying smugglers to go away, primary aim doesn't seem to be undermining smugglers as much as grab headlines and push a problem out of sight, out of mind.
