Stalinism != democratic socialism

Perhaps Rand knows better but is trying to play to the fears and superstitions of the American electorate?

I've lost almost all of the respect that I one had for Rand Paul over the last few months.

Finally, someone says this. Too bad it had to be Rand Paul instead of a serious candidate.

So does Rand Paul have to defend free market fascists like Pinochet?

Rand Paul is turning out to be just another Republican hack.  Nothing special.  Perhaps he thinks that this is the ticket to the White House someday.

At least Rand's understanding of socialism isn't any worse than Bernie's.

Since "free market fascist" is a contradiction, no.

We know TNF will defend Stalinism. He already said he would like to see Republicans and Libertarians in gulags.

Rand Paul will have to defend the violence of right-wingers like Hitler and Pinochet.

Paul should run ads in Iowa against Sanders.

Show's how pathetically desperate he is. It's funny though that I used to think that a Sanders vs Paul matchup would be ideal.

No, he should have to defend the violence of democratic socialists like Tony Blair.

Wait, that doesn't make sense, either.

An option that is slowly starting to appeal to me.

Sigh, Paul shouldve just run the same campaign as his father. In this crowded field he may have been able to lead some polls then. This campaign has been a disaster and when he says things like this I want to drop my support, but then I remember everyone else is supportive of more war and more spying on Americans and I just have no choice but to stick with him.

Precisely! Freedom to starve and sweat workers is the definitive freedom. Anyone who gets in the way of such can be killed should he fail to show the folly of his ways, as under Pinochet.

That's the gospel of "Saint" Ayn Rand.

Rand didn't get the memo that the term Socialism long ago lost its literal meaning. The government typically does not own most of the means of production, it just regulates and taxes those that do more heavily and redistributes the dough, to create more equality in outcomes. I don't think Bernie wants the government to own auto companies, and tech companies, and the like.

We really do have a rather sad cast of characters overall running for POTUS this time. It's very disappointing.

Then you hate freedom of speech and hate the idea of democracy too.

In honesty, Sanders is his biggest competitor in term of taking the student voters.

But Rand is a fool to think that "liberal" students will go for him.

I was in college during 2012, those attempts that make Ron sound caring about "liberal issues" is just funny when it really boil down to whoever yell the loudest will win at the state level.

I really really think Rand Paul is done this cycle.  His father may have 1% chance of victory but Rand had 0% of victory for a while now when the topic was focus on the Iran Deal.  Pundits are right about this is the wrong cycle for Rand to run.
