This is a rather sad state of affairs - it seems as if they plan to let the reactionary conservatives govern just how they wish. When will see the Socialists do anything?

The government has countless major differences with the Socialist Party but unlike the communists they are at least willing to not grind South America to a screeching halt in the name of petty bickering.

The Conservatives in drafting the constitution made no provision for an Official Opposition and set it no function. So there isn't one. Smart move by the governing party actually...

? The opposition has been recognised by the Speaker as being the Socialist Party, with their leader being the Leader of the Opposition. They have done a good job in opposing thus far.

You know you're doing something wrong if the party that your opposing complements you're on how your opposing them.

In vast difference to any other opposition party, the Socialist have thus far always vocally stated their opinion, be it in opposition to the government's or not. We have always stated our belief, since our nation is still in its early days, and the process of shaping our nation is yet underway, we would be very open to cooperate with the government whenever legislation deals with said process of shaping our nation, as for example with Parliament's standing orders or the constitution. We have however on numerous other occasions vocally and wholeheartedly opposed the government and all its members - occasions, when we have heard nothing at all from the honourable gentleman's party, and if, then just the usual, empty, endlessly-repeated laments of the party's opposition to the "bourgeoisie" state and its institutions...

Would you prefer the Socialists had ground the nation to a halt and plunged us into elections that would have returned the same result (except, lol, for the loss of your seat!) for no reason?
