After being correct by the host of the radio program he was on that Dred Scott was superseded by the 13th [actually 14th] Amendment, the Huckster then went on to channel early 19th century Supreme Court disputes and suggested that the court's recent decision in favor of same-sex marriage (Obergefell v. Hodges) should be ignored by the states since Congress had passed no federal law to that effect.

It's too late for this election cycle, but if the Republicans ever want to be taken seriously at the national level again, they need to figure out how to boot Huckabee and those like him from the whole primary process, if not the party.

Huckabee is performing very, very poorly for a guy who did well in 2008 and was viewed as a potential frontrunner just four years ago.

This is why people don't take Huckabee seriously.

Aliens must have abducted Mike Huckabee and replaced him with a lunatic version of himself.

And this is why Huckabee needs to drop out.

Was he ever NOT a lunatic? He is probably the most or the 2nd most socially conservative candidate in the race.

In 2008 he said the constitution should be re-written in god's vision. He's always been a lunatic.

Which is why he will never be the nominee, he is too socially conservative to win the nomination. Bauer, Buchanan, Huckabee(2008)/Thompson, Santorum(2012), are just examples of that.

Bauer and Buchanan never held the kind of public office to give them the kind of gravitas to convince people they were qualified for the Presidency.

Santorum was a guy who lost big in his last re-election; guys like this never get nominated.

I don't know which Thompson you are talking about; Fred or Tommy.  I would argue that these guys lost for other reasons than social conservatism.
