What are the political views of the German magazine "Der Spiegel"? Left, center or right?

What is its favorite political party in Germany?

Its English-language version on line is just left of center, not radically so.  It is progressive, yet optimistic.  It also seems to enjoy basking in the warm glow of White Man's Guilt.  Overall, a bit left of WaPo, a bit right of TIME.  A quick perusal of today's headlines should satisfactorily confirm that.

I lived in Germany for a year but that was long ago and my German is a bit rusty.  I tried to read the German edition on line and as far as I can tell I'd make the same comments about that edition.

The main difference is that the FUSSBALL link is prominent and high on the German version, whereas on the English version you have to dig a little bit into sports to find it.
