Yes. I can see only one good Republican candidate able to win a statewide (including - Congressional) race in Delaware. And, AFAIK, he is running for reelection as Treasurer...

The Dems aren't winning the House anytime soon; so run for gov or Senate. Go Carney for Gov.

Maybe him and Markell will swap roles? Or is House a bit of a demotion?

Didn't this happen with Castle and Carper back in the 90s?

Hey Miles, haven't seen you around lately. Good to see you back.

Anyway, since Delaware politics are duller than Utah politics, I imagine Carney's made a deal with another state elected Dem to take his house spot. Seems like a tradition in Delaware.

Does DE still have a republican party? Looking at some of the downballot races from '14, it looks like they finally won a few statewide offices, but it's unreal how long the overall drought has been in an "important" race in that state.

AFAIK - yes. The problem is: their base is now in 2 southern counties - Kent and Sussex, and it's generally very conservative there (Castle lost to O'Donnell mostly in these area...). While to win statewide they, generally, need moderate (yes, again, especially in such blue-leaning state) candidates able to minimize losses in New Castle. Simpler did it in 2014 (he got more then 45% in New Castle - very good result for Republican), almost "eternal" Auditor Wagner also gets decent percentage there, but - that's almost all. On the other side - Republicans managed to defeat all relatively conservative Democrats in Legislature, who tended to come from Sussex county...

I see that others have previously mentioned it, but wondering if others had any thoughts on Markell and Carney potentially swapping seats? It seems as if Carney is the overwhelming favorite to be elected governor, and I would imagine that as a sitting governor, Markell wouldn't have a hard time winning Carney's house seat. Markell would still be a statewide official, as DE only has one at large seat. I know it is seen as a demotion to go from being a governor to a member of the house, but it would keep Markell's name in the political world and it would help to be in office if Markell wanted to seek higher office in the future. Do you think Markell would even want to swap seats? It happened with Castle and Carper, so maybe it could happen again? I'm not too knowledgeable about DE politics, so not sure if this is even something Markell would consider.
