What's so scary about those Russian ABM? As far as I know the ABM systems are constructed to defend, not to attack.
Russia had tight connection with Syria since it was yet USSR. And it have never been the biggest problem in our relations with Assad or Putin? What has changed now?
Seems that Pentagon is just looking for a fake reason!

Why do the Russians/Soviets freak out every time the US/West starts a new missile defense program?  They are only for defense, not to attack.

The S-300 system being sold to Syria and Iran is considered a highly potent threat to any non-stealth aircraft. If the nuclear deal with the latter goes wrong, it will be much harder to attack the latter.
