Some of you may have seen the hilarious spam solution form rejection letter. This I got from another forum.

***

Your post advocates a

( ) liberal  ( ) conservative  (X) socialist

approach to having the government solve the problem of

( ) poverty
( ) unemployment
( ) poor working conditions
( ) pollution
( ) public goods
(X) health care being too expensive (fill in blank)
( ) evil dictator ________ (fill in blank)
( ) declining public morals
( ) disparities in wealth
( ) insufficient production of ________ (fill in blank)
( ) shoddy production of _______ (fill in blank)
( ) crime
( ) terrorism
( ) hoarding of _______ (fill in blank)
( ) immigration
( ) drugs

Your idea will not work.  Here is why it won't work:

(X) People would have even less incentive to produce or act responsibly.
( ) All it takes is one determined soul to undermine the whole plan.
(X) It would give people a false sense of security while exposing them to greater risk.
(X) Producers of the desired good would be driven away.
(X) That reduces the marginal cost of what you want to prevent (wasteful health care) to zero, thus encouraging it.
(X) It destabilizes or eliminates market mechanisms that have solved this problem for ages.
( ) Anyone powerful enough to be targeted by your plan has the power to write the legislation.
( ) It necessitates violations of privacy.
( ) It necessitates a police state.
( ) It severely punishes capital accumulation, which is vital to improving standard of living.
(X) The problem will be solved temporarily and then get much worse.
( ) Black markets enrich the very people you're trying to punish.
(X) When something is publicly run, its managers have little incentive to optimize efficiency.

Your plan, in short, fails to account for:

( ) the ineptness of politicians.
( ) the power of special interests.
( ) the unpopularity of weird new taxes.
(X) basic economics.
( ) the value of civil liberties.
( ) the value of human life.
( ) information asymmetry.
( ) the degree to which Keynesianism has been discredited.

Additionally, the following philosophical objections apply:

( ) Ideas similar to yours are easy to come up with, yet none have ever been shown practical.
( ) Feel-good measures do nothing to solve the problem.
( ) The cure should not be worse than the disease.
( ) The government is the biggest cause of that problem, yet you expect it to be able to fight that problem?
(X) This program will just be used to justify another program later to fix the unexpected side effects of this one.
( ) That's only a problem insofar as you view it as one.
( ) Costs, especially large ones, should not be shifted onto future generations.
( ) Killing them that way is not slow and painful enough, nor can it ever be.

Based on what you have posted, this is what I think of you:

( ) You are clearly intelligent, yet you have not fully thought this idea through.
(X) Your intentions are noble, your ideas flawed.
( ) This is a stupid idea; you reveal your stupidity in suggesting it.
( ) You are a cancer on the earth.
