I wish I was a delegate so I could ram my ideas through with ease.

I had every expectation of you representing the South instead of me. I was surprised you didn't run for that and once I received a warning about the low number of candidates, I agreed to run as the deadline approached. Feel free to PM me as well. Smiley

Hardly a conspiracy, it seems for all my attempts to steer clear of this convention for its own sake, I get roped in closer by necessity. Tongue

Marokai as a Conservative, that was a criticism I thought he long ago lived down. Wasn't it Napleon or someone who made that accusation first. Tongue

Hard not to ROTFLOL watching someone frantically trying to get everyone dancing on his rhetorical tune or even better, measuring their own proposals against his measuring sticks. Amazing how someone who labels as conservatives and reactionaries, well established socialists with a long history of supporting reforms (stretching back to when that certain someone was still sucking up to the establishment mind you) and yet is regarded as so credible by so many.

Never mind we're back in business.

Be a sport and fetch daddy another beer just like you did when you were serving real dinosaurs, I am still too busy err ROTFLOLing.

Also can someone give a good reason why someone like Verin, who's been championing radical change in Atlasia for the better part of a decade, is not a delegate?

Because the Senate, in its infinite wisdom, has made participating in the Convention an impossibility for all but people with too much time on their hands.

Maybe you needed to hug a few more people. That usually works for ya.

As predicted, and even with the CARCA, the greatest threat to consolidation would be the allocation of states to the new regions.

The vacancy issue aside, a good aspect is that someone like Poirot would have an easier time getting in. Just 10 votes would be necessary under the current STV system with 11 seats up, to win a seat, and with it being At-Large, you can find those ten votes litterally anywhere in the country.

As for the vacancy issue, it is grave concern. Recall how Napoleon switch parties in rapid succession, deleted one of them and then resigned leaving people unsure which party he was even in when he made the resignation. Granted it is an extreme example, but in this game particularly, a Party list system has that downside.

Another extreme example. RowanBrandon was elected by the RPP in August 2009, and he left the party later that month before even taking office, only rejoining just weeks before his resignation in December. Since registrations are sometimes fluid, it is difficult for really have a system based on that premise.

In spite of the number of times, Winfield has been supported/endorsed by first the RPP (Which he was a member of for a few months) and in recent times the Feds, he still seems to despise parties and regards them as evil by reflex. Tongue

I don't understand why the convention would want to let regions how the Senators will be chosen. In an elections game it seems the choice should be made by the voters directly. The discussion in a region will last two weeks so it will not bring activity. If a region chooses to let the assembly select a Senator, it strips the citizens of an opportunity to vote and gives the decision to only a few. A Senator could be chosen by three people in a region while a colleague in another region needs more than 15 votes to be elected. Some will need to campaign, some won't even need to.

Because it will force people to vote in regional legislature elections, either to ensure they select the right Senator or to ensure they preserve the popular election of Senators within the region.

I concur with tmrthforu in that the Constitutional Convention seems to be moving slower than before.

Also, I would hope that there's more productive things for our delegates to do than debate over the names of the regions, which should be decided by the regions themselves anyways.

For once, we agree.

Do people know if many players are waiting for a reboot to be active or interested in holding offices. With the number of players currently active it doesn't look like even reducing to three regions, all offices in Nyman and regions will be active. Maybe the new government proposed was a solution adapted to two years ago in bringing more people to Nyman while reducing the number of regions so they are all active and competitive but right now with the number of people who seem interested in playing it seems big.

We cannot keep downsizing in search of a perpetually moving target. That is a road to nowhere.

KEep in mind we have a massive reset looming on both the Federal and Regional level. With ratification coming in less than a month perhaps, any efforts in the meantime will likely be deleted in a very short time of just a few weeks.

I know that within the Feds a lot of people have plans for the post consolidation Atlasia and therefore I expect an even greater level of participation.

Speaking of election regulations, if the Congress studies the minimum number of posts to be an eligible voter, I know there are reasons to fix a minimum but I have gone in periods of not posting much (only reading) and could not be a valid voter while some voters maybe don't even visit Atlasia but post regurlarly on other sections of the website.

Are you suggesting it be removed or just changed?
