George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Paine. Jefferson and Hamilton are probably the most fascinating ones, but that's largely because I find both of their legacies to be considerably more complicated and problematic.

A top 3 is tough, but I'll go with George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Thomas Sumter.

Honorable mention to Samuel Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Christopher Gadsden, Henry Laurens, George Mason, and Thomas Paine.

Wikipedia says Kościuszko counts so he must.

I'm also a fan of Kościuszko, not enough to make my top 3, but he's definitely up there thanks to his military contributions. I understand that Polish-Americans tend to celebrate Casimir Pulaski more than they celebrate Kościuszko. I think this is a mistake. Kościuszko was invaluable, whereas Pulaski was easily one of the worst generals on the American side.

Growing up, I had a fascination with James Madison, so I have to include him.  Honestly (and ironically), I bet I probably looked at politicians with a clearer head back then, as I was less partisan, and I respected the hell out of Madison and thought he got dealt a very unfair deck.  Then I agree with Washington's and Hamilton's policies the most.
