(Keystone Phil stands at a podium that is set up in his Pennsylvania residence.)

Good evening. Today I celebrated my seventeenth birthday. In my seventeen years, I have learned many life lessons and have been raised with conservative values. In Atlasia, conservativism is on the rise. Common sense values are being recognized. Atlasia now has a conservative majority Senate. Many members have worked towards conservative causes. Yet we have a problem: No one is taking up the conservative cause in the race for the Presidency.

I have spoken to many candidates and potential candidates concerning the June election. A number of these individuals share some conservative principles but do not truly embody what it means to be a conservative. I have discussed this with potential candidates, too, asking if they would seek the Presidency. They all turned down a run.

This evening I realized that a conservative must step into this race. The other men running are honorable individuals but cannot stand by the beliefs of my party and the growing acceptance of our values. It is because of this that I have decided that I will seek the Presidency of Atlasia.

Now I know that at this point, many are probably laughing at this announcement. Many see me as a ruthless individual and will end up doing the worst in this race. I hope I can change those opinions during this run. I want to show the people of Atlasia that I will stand by what I many others in our great Atlasia believe in. If I end up doing the worst in this race, so be it. I am running for a cause. I am running for the people. A defeat will only be another lesson learned.

Thank you for your time, may God bless you and may God bless Atlasia.

Er, isn't StatesRights running for President?  He's about as conservative as you can get.

Good luck Phil.  Just say the word and I can make you another of those banners, but this time without the same slogans I used before. Wink

I should have stated that I don't consider that certain conservative a respectable candidate. His efforts that nearly caused a Civil War is a main reason as to why I'm in this race.

Which brings up an interesting question.  I know that Phil has a moral objection to preferential voting.  Are you going to urge your supporters to forgo use of preferential voting in this election?

I have always suggested a boycott of that voting system and will still do so in this situation.

Are you sure you don't feel that you should reject their votes on principle? Tongue

I'd encourage my supporters to boycott IRV but if they don't, I don't believe that they are bad votes. I believe the system is bad.

I was referring to the primary.  Can it be split there?

Who knows? We might have a very close primary and very close convention vote. On the other hand, it might be one-sided.

Good luck, Phil.  I'm sure you'll get a preference somewhere in my usually long and silly ballot.

Oh wait, you don't want preferences.  Sorry, buddy, too bad then. (j/k)

Yes, I'll second that. We seem to have candidates from all over the political spectrum. I really look forward to the VP choices and to the debates.
