Now that House Speaker John Boehner has announced to resign, my fear is that "The Crazies" (aka Ultra Conservative Tea Party Representatives) will have a field-day with how The House does business.
What will the House of Representatives do now/next ?
How will they handle such things as the budget, C.R., and the Federal Spending Limit ?

Will they try to introduce (push) a Bill to formally announce that the President is a Muslim ? Or maybe that the President is not an American Citizen and was really born in Mongolia ?
They might as well throw-in that he (The President) is actually an alien from Neptune.

Wacky and crazy ideas, for a small but troublesome caucus within the Republican party in the House.
Yes, my comments are exaggerated .... but trust me ... I'm not far off.
The scary thing is ... is that there was a majority of citizens who elected these bizarros within their districts. Far-out citizens who elect kooky members to Congress. And many of their ideas and beliefs are bigoted in nature. Are they Bigots ?

And then on top of all this, we have some Republican Presidential candidates who throw-out zingers (lines) with the same "strange" tone/language. Intentionally "attracting" the far right to get (polling) votes. Like throwing meat to the lions. Is this what the Republican Party has succumbed to ? Is there really enough Republicans within the overall electorate, that they really need to lower-oneself to these deranged standards ? Sad but true.

Enter stage "right" .... The Crazies.

Eh, not entirely. They could be a bit more reasonable and compromise.

That being said, they are a lot better than the far-left Democrats like Sanders and Warren.

If being principled and standing for something makes me crazy, call me crazy.

LOL.
I think (hope) that the first response from "Assemblyman JCL" was sarcasm.

Now the comment (agreement) from "Classic Conservative" was serious.
Someone who displays a "2016 Ted Cruz" advertisement, would be associated with "The Crazies."

Yes, you are right !
The Tea Party could be "more reasonable and compromise."
They could "compromise" and say that President Obama was born in the USA, but is truly a Muslim (not a Christian).
This way, the Tea Party folk are only "Half-Crazies."

If being principled and standing for something makes me crazy, call me crazy.

ExtremeRepublican,
No one here is saying that "being principled and standing for something" designates you as "crazy."
But, it is the beliefs and one's specific principles that may determine one to be assigned as "crazy."

Let me give you an example:
ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria). ISIS believes that those who do not convert to its version of Islam should be executed. They also believe that slavery is okay (According to reports, ISIS has enslaved hundreds of Yazidi women.) I'm sure you have heard of many other "bizarre" views regarding ISIS.

ISIS is "principled" in these beliefs, and they truly have 100% faith in what they "stand for."
Would any reasonable person say that ISIS is not "crazy" ?
Would you defend ISIS as not crazy, simply because they are "being principled and standing for something" ?
NOT !!

Get it.

There's a difference between standing for something, and standing for something to the point where you cause a debt ceiling fiasco.  I think the tea party, while standing for some principles with which I agree, has had a negative impact on our government.

I have been away from this website for some time. Just yesterday, was my first time logged-in in at least a year.
I don't remember much about "Assemblyman JCL," but I have a feeling you are correct.

Classic Conservative,
Sorry, but I didn't mean to say you specifically. I'm glad to hear that you are not one who believes in such nonsense. What is was trying to convey, is that the vast majority of those associated with the Tea Party do believe that the President was born in another country.

You probably saw the PPP survey that was released early this month. The PPP poll asked questions to Trump supporters, which are heavily aligned to those who associate with the Tea Party. Here are the survey results :
61% think Obama was not born in the United States.
66% believe that Obama is a Muslim.

This is just nutty and crazy. People who believe in such nonsense must be ignorant and/or a bigot.

It seems pretty likely that Boehner will be succeeded by McCarthy, who will probably won't deviate much from Boehner for the foreseeable future.

Yes, I think you are correct Orser67.
From the reading and research into McCarthy, I understand that he actually is slightly less conservative (more of a "centrist") and is also known to negotiate with the other party to get things accomplished.
Let's hope this is true, and that "The Crazies" don't run him out of office also.

Oh Oh ...
With McCarthy now out of the picture as a candidate for Speaker ...
My fear has returned, that we may have "a Crazy" leading The House.
Hold on to your seat boys and girls.
Let the drama begin ...
