What if Theodore Roosevelt lived on for at least another twenty years? Would he have become president for another time? And, a very interesting question; if US history since 1928/29 remained the same: Would he have supported FDR in his campaigns and would he have approved the way, his distant cousin was handling the job? Would he, as a progressive, have switched to the Democratic party?

He was a favorite.for the 1920 GOP nomination. Probobly would win it too.

I don't think he would have switched parties.  When you look at his personal quotes and things like that, it's pretty clear that he viewed the Democrats as ... well, pretty much the party of lazy people who wanted free stuff.  Now, he was pretty politically adept (hence picking up trust-busting as "his" issue out of thin air), so I could easily see him crossing party lines and supporting his fellow Roosevelt.

Think a White, mustached Colin Powell.
