So hows the gop leadership battle going to pan out?

Could we see a McCarthy, McMorris-Rodgers, McHenry lineup?

Speaker

Kevin McCarthy (R-Bakersfield)

McCarthy is well positioned to lead the establishment. He has access to deep California pockets and he is media savvy and a great fundraiser. His district makes him cozy with big oil and big ag. He may have trouble however with the far right on the immigration issue. His district relies on a ready supply of cheap immigrant labor...and if he makes deals with Pelosi will he be tarred by association?

His opponents: I dont think he will face much opposition. Gadfly soon to be ex congressman Dan Webster (Orlando) says he will run. But rumor has it Jeb Hensarling will sit out.

Majority Leader

Steve Scalise (R-suburban N.O., LA) v Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Spokane).

I think Scalise may be damaged goods. The tea partiers have popular support but electeds dont want them running things.

Whip

Patrick McHenry (R-SW NC) v Pete Roskam (R-Dupage, Il)

I say speaker McCarthy, Majority Leader Tom Price and Majority Whip Roskam

(edit: Had McMorris-Rodgers originally for majority leader, but she declined bid so I change to Tom Price)
