Which political opponent do you most respect, this may be a member of the opposite party you vote for or a politician with diffrent policies, however one that you hold respect for.

Chuck Grassley is a pretty model Senator, in terms of constituent service and being a team player for his party.

Do ones you consider allies count as opponents solely on party? If not, then Bernie Sanders/Elizabeth Warren/Carl Levin/John Kerry. If so, then easily Wyden and Feingold.

I'll say, in terms of opposite politics but respectful behavior, I'd say I find George Pataki to be an intersting throwback character who has been a better Governor than most of his lackluster successors.

Al Franken.  Smart, funny, good looking...ok, not good looking, but he's good enough, he's smart enough and gosh darn it, people like him.  I'd never vote for him, but it would be pretty cool to be friends with him.

Colin Powell, although he's hardly an "opponent." Of more typical Republicans, probably Martha McSally.

Also, for Republicans looking for Democrats, don't forget about Tammy Duckworth - an objectively very respectable person, regardless of her politics.

Mikulski

Honorable mention to Al Franken. I only endorsed him last year because McFadden was a pretty pathetic challenger and he wouldn't get my vote over Kline, Paulsen, etc., but I do respect his devotion to doing his job and the fact that he has not brought his comical side to the Senate.

Marco Rubio, he's one of the only GOPers that can win in 2016
