Brian McWho?
The Pope, even though I don't give a d'mn about it, and I know dozens of people who have met him personally (he was my archbishop)
(As for liberal christian authors I'd rather get to know the much more radical John Shelby Spong, who actually shaped my beliefs while I was a christian)

I've been to church with Spong (my father is from the town in North Jersey where he lives). My impression of him is that you either find both the man and his theology interesting and engaging, or you find them both boring and obnoxious as hell. I fall into the latter category.

Sponge is basically what conservatives like to strawman liberal Christianity as, not an actual example of it.

Spong may represent a smaller fraction of liberal Christian, but he's still an important part of the movement

Atlas is turning into trash if it wasn't already bad enough when people sh**tpost like this. Why are meaningless posts allowed to promulgate on here so much!?

That doesn't mean what you think it means.

I meant in the sense as "being promoted" but I could be mistaken. Please enlighten me, Tony, seeing as I only have 3 weeks of college under my belt.

(this wasn't meant to be self-promoting, merely a recognition that Antonio is much more educated and well-read than I am)

I suspect you meant "profligate". I see where you were coming from.

"Profligate" isn't even a verb.

You guys seriously couldn't think of the word "propagate"?

Yeah, I don't think Spong is the best example of liberal Christianity, either. Maybe an example of liberal Christianity taken absurdly far (emphasis on the "liberal" part while de-emphasizing the Christian part Tongue ).

prom·ul·gate
ˈpräməlˌɡāt/
verb
promote or make widely known (an idea or cause).
"these objectives have to be promulgated within the organization"
synonyms:   make known, make public, publicize, spread, communicate, propagate, disseminate, broadcast, promote, preach; literarybruit abroad
"they promulgated their own views"
put (a law or decree) into effect by official proclamation.
"in January 1852, the new constitution was promulgated"
synonyms:   put into effect, enact, implement, enforce
"the law was promulgated in 1942"

There's nothing wrong with not knowing the meaning of a word - as a foreign speaker, this happens to me all the time. However, I think that was worth pointing considering your general holier-than-thou attitude in this and other threads.

Ah okay, thanks for that. I don't understand what a simple misuse of a word has to do with what I've said in the past but w/e.

Look at you trying to use big boy words!

But it is amazing how long it took for someone to get it right. Congrats.
