Inspired by Pope Francis to create this thread. We all have groups of people we feel we just can't sympathize with, but with the Pope's message of love for all, try to say something genuinely kind about a voter group you don't usually hold in the highest regard. ex: Social liberals say something kind about social conservatives, Pubs say something kind about Dems etc. Try to refrain from sarcastic or snide comments and try to say something truly kind.

Mine: Democrats get a bad wrap on their patriotism. The vast majority are patriotic Americans who are just as concerned about the future of America as any other group.

Social conservatives generally care about people, if not always those in the groups they disagree with.

Socons: At least you think of morality before profit or personal gain.

Hard-core capitalists: Most of you can pretty clearly rationalize your arguments in a logical way.

Communists: I've been to Cuba and Vietnam and they are both lovely countries.

Neocons: Thanks for acting as a counter to the isolationists in your party, who I generally find much more concerning.

Libertarians: You're probably the future of the GOP, and that's a good thing.

Fascists: Thank you for warning the world what the far-right can do if given the chance.

Anarchists: You know, you've probably already won, since the global system is effectively leaderless. Also, Emma Goldman and Noam Chomsky are very good reads.

Netanyahu supporters: I honestly believe you when you say that you are only trying to protect the Jewish homeland. I think we just differ on how that is best achieved and who should sacrifice what to achieve it.

The European far-right: Dang, those are some good GOTV efforts on European Parliament elections.

Islamic Extremists: Much of the territory you control is stunningly beautiful.

Wealthy Romney Republicans: Tend to be more socially tolerant
Communists: They have a very strong set of beliefs and stand by them. Moreover, they oppose unjust systems in general.
Libertarians: They were against Vietnam and the War in Iraq. Also, most support LGBT rights.
Evangelical Conservatives: They truly, deeply care about religion and I respect such devotion. Also, most of the ones I know are some of the kindest people.
Tumblr Liberals: Generally have the intent of pursuing equality, even if their rhetoric sometimes is extreme. They have a good knowledge of many social movements and how to grow support.
Anarchists: Full of youthful spirit, which I can admire.
European Far-Right: They know how to mobilize supporters.
Right wing populists: Sometimes they have a good economic idea or two, especially on things like trade.
Establishment Republicans: Generally very decent folks. While I don't agree with their policies, I can have awesome conversations with establishment Republicans where we just discuss issues and try to find common ground.

Neoconservatives: I like that your nationalistic rather than globalist.
Socialists: I like your idealism to find a better society through an interesting philosophy.
Progressive Liberals: Put policy before power.
Establishment Democrats/Republicans: Hmmmm..... I don't know.

I thought of one for extreme pro-lifers: they're a lot nicer than I would be if I thought my political opponents supported murdering babies.

Libertarians: Probably the best at creating polices from first principles instead of going for something popular.

Populists/Far-Right: They "get" white, working class males far better than most groups.

Establishment types (either party): Good at winning elections and keeping the machinery of government going.

I thought of one for extreme pro-lifers: they're a lot nicer than I would be if I thought my political opponents supported murdering babies.

Yes this. If I seriously thought abortion was the murder of children, I seriously would go bananas.

Well, let's see:

Trots - can have good points, especially in the self-serving hypocrisy of some the elite of the left.

Scottish Nationalists - normally they do genuinely believe in something radical, and their mass mobilisation is something missed in this hyper-individualistic world?

Protectionists and Luddites - have a genuine sorrow, and deep empathy for those communities treated poorly by the march of globalisation and technologisation. Politics without empathy or emotion is nightmarish.

Techno-Utopians - genuinely see a future where they can help people. Foresight combined with a whirling series of internal gears are good and noble traits.

Pastoralists and other such romanticists - I dislike the tinsel of sentimentality, as opposed to genuine empathy; but anybody who sees the beauty in nature can't all be bad.

Voters of the contenporary ANC - emboldening a tired group of corrupt centrist hacks led by a pandering idiotic rapist? Yes. But they are also voting for the only party in South Africa that has attempted to serve the vast majority of population remotely well; continuing to have faith in the dream, however dismal it seems two decades on.

Blairites/Kendallites: I find them genuinely brave. I like Corbyn, although the upcoming election scares me, but is he "brave"? Nah (unless Mi5 try to "zip him in to a duffel bag"). Bravery (or perhaps masochism) is standing up in front of Labour delegates and saying basically that their sacred cows are dumb. Foolhardy yes, but an act of political courage.

The right is better than the left at using simple, direct language in getting their point across.  Conservatives are also more organized and stick together more.

Fascists: Actually really committed to their brand of insanity, which I can respect.

Conservatives: Class conscious, even if they don't often realize it.

Liberals: Well, you did some good stuff back in the 18th/19th centuries. Also, good job on that whole figuring out religion was a massive sham thing, instituting capitalism (way better than feudalism, ofc), and promoting freedom of speech, petition, thought, etc.

Social Democrats: Nope, nothing good to say about you scabs. Into the ashbin of history with the lot of you.

Stalinists: Thanks for wiping out Nazism.

Anarchists: You had a good run. Thank you for not being total morons as far as the bourgeois state is concerned.

Progressive Democrats - I think they really think their ideas are what's best for the most people.  I can respect that.  They also tend to be pretty educated on the issues.

Social Conservatives - They have conviction, if nothing else.  I think they truly believe they are fighting for something bigger than themselves, and I guess if I believed that, I'd fight just as hard as they do for their beliefs.  Also, while I'm POLITICALLY pro-choice (my personal views on the morality of abortion get a lot muddier), I can seriously respect pro-life sentiment, and even more so the viewpoint it's coming from.

True Leftists - They're almost always well-researched, and their conviction can't be questioned.

ACTUAL Moderate Heroes (Not Just Moderates) - They are at least looking to govern ... something that can't be said for the fringes when the other side is in power.

Tea Partiers - If I were coming from the same viewpoint as them (I'm not), I could understand their passion; they see things as going too far, and they're impassioned enough about it to get out there and take a stand democratically ... I guess that's what the Founders wanted, right?
