This sounds like a first step toward withdrawal to me.

He sounded as if he had already given up during the 2nd debate. I'm happy that he has effectively killed the insidious movement his father spent decades building.

Paul doesn't have the resources to keep going. It would be smart to get out.

He's clearly not going to be the Republican nominee, so it would be smart for him to just drop out and focus on his senate seat. This seat will be safe for him if he drops his presidential bid soon and just focuses on reelection.

Well, if he's considering dropping out, he might want to do it by Wednesday, the deadline to pay $40,000 to be on the SC ballot.

I think he will hold out for a little longer waiting for the field to narrow and drop out in December or January if it obviously isn't happening. He's probably going to give it one last shot.

He should drop out and try again in 2020/2024. He's only 52 and a junior senator. 2016 just isn't his year.

Hmmm... I seriously don't think Rand will drop out now. I mean he paid for the KY caucus and has a good ground game. With the way this primary season has gone, it seems the MSM is loving the entertainment. Ever since Trump got in. Remember Advertising 101, folks. All publicity is better than none publicity, as the say goes. Wink

This time was always going to be his first run anyway. I'm sure he was hoping to hang on until after NH or NV with maybe a few delegates to show for his effort, but the way Paul fought long and hard to allow himself to run for Senate and Prez says that he really wants to keep his current job, so if that is in jeopardy (either funding and/or KY GOP support) he will quit the prez race.

If he is smart he will drop out soon and solely focus on his re-election for the senate.

Will dropping out finally get DeadPrez to downgrade him from favorite to 2nd tier contender?

I think he's covering his bases for when he does drop out, but I don't see why he wouldn't stay in until New Hampshire at least. It's not like he has a primary challenge to worry about.

The Presidency was a long shot, and he has a Senate seat worth defending. Dropping out of the Presidential free-for-all now looks like a rational choice.

I think he is just covering his bases. His ground game is solid the Caucus could change everything

Besides he is the only candidate that I actually like, my second pick for the president is a socialist =/

One of his Super PACS has stopped supporting him:

He paid for the KY caucus, just launched Students for Rand, and has more people on the ground doing work than every other candidate. He is not dropping out for better or for worse.

Source?

I don't think this says anything about when he'll drop out. The 'oooh, he's fundraising for Senate now, that must mean he's giving up' meme is Beltway political insider talk that I hope doesn't grip this forum. Maybe he doesn't want to lose loyalty from Kentucky voters by going all in on the presidential and then at the last second shift all his resources to the Senate.

This is better evidence than anything in the OP

Apparently Bevin's campaign for Governor is crumbling as badly as Paul's is, so it's kind of fitting he wishes to acknowledge someone else.

That being said, I kind of wish Paul would stop being a team player for Bevin after this and cut him off considering Paul is over there trying to help him and do damage control (but he won't).
