Sneak peeks from PPP Twitter, we'll get the full poll tomorrow:

Since their last poll a month ago:

Trump increases from 24 percent to 26 percent
Bush decreases from 13 percent to 5 percent
Graham increases from 0 Supporters to 2 Supporters

--------

Carson leads among 'very conservative' voters, but Trump has strong support among moderates.

Paul has literally zero support in the state.

Paul at 0. I imagine Fiorina and Rubio's numbers rose, hence Bush's drop.

Favorability among own party:

Carson 70/17
Rubio 63/19
Huckabee 59/26
Fiorina 58/23
Trump 53/36
Cruz 52/25
Bush 34/47
Kasich 25/33

Biden 69/20
Clinton 63/29
Sanders 45/24

Clinton is the 2nd choice of Biden and Sanders voters. Lessig is the 2nd choice of Chafee and O'Malley voters. Biden is the 2nd choice of Clinton voters. O'Malley is the 2nd choice of Webb voters. Webb is the 2nd choice of Lessig Voters.

Head to Head:

Trump 56
Bush 36

Carson 54
Trump 38

Fiorina 49
Trump 45

Rubio 47
Trump 44

Clinton 51
Sanders 23

Among Republicans:

72% of primary voters agree that muslims should not be allowed to be president, but on the question of whether practicing Islam should be illegal it is a 40/40 split with 20% unsure. 72% agree that Obama is waging a war on christianity.

Those bolded numbers are what hit me like a sledgehammer. I think it reflects what a poor communicator Jeb is, more than anything. One wonders how he was ever elected governor, at least until you remember what his opponents were like.

It's amazing how Trump is actually TRAILING by Conservatives here. Does that confirm that it's low info voters who are driving him?

To the extent Conservative Pubs also tend to be more evangelical and religious than other Pubs, maybe it is more about the perception that Trump is not a man of faith. I mean, about the only thing Trump and I have in common, is that we both are not men as to which the sacred gets much traction in our brains.

This poll doesn’t include questions about education level, but other polls do, and they all show Trump doing better among those without a college degree.  E.g., in this Fox poll:

https://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=219744.msg4736342#msg4736342

Trump gets 18% of GOP primary voters with a college degree and 32% of those without a degree.  So there is evidence that his support skews towards those who are lower in education level, which correlates with “political knowledge”.  Of course, his overall support is large enough that he also gets plenty of support from those who would qualify as “high information” as well, even if he is underperforming with that group.

In some ways, I'm surprised that only 40% of Republican Primary voters in North Carolina want to ban the practice of Islam.

Does Biden have some particular connection to the state?

I would assume that Biden would be doing well in any Southern state in which blacks make up ~a third or more of the Democratic primary electorate.  He’s strong with blacks, and presumably stronger with Southern whites than Sanders is.

It's really about the perception that he seems kind of socially conservative even though he isn't.  His polling is feuled by overwhelming support of conservative Democrats, which still exist in NC.
