Yes, all that footage of a relatively 'modern' looking Kabul etc. that people point to sometimes was shot under the previous two regimes. But I pointed that out a while ago here and no one paid attention, so you're wasting your time.

It's possible but far from a certainty. The Taliban came to power because the people the Soviets were fighting were totally unable to run a government.

Specifically though, the Taliban could not have come into existence without the refugee camps over the border.

HI. Imperialism in the name of "socialism" isn't any better than the United States' policy of imperialism in the name of "democracy"

Even if you think the Soviet invasion was a bad idea, you should still think the Soviets were better than the mujahadeen.

It's like, I think the Iraq invasion was unjustified but as long as it happened, I still preferred a quick easy American victory to a victory by Saddam or the insurgents.

A victory by Saddam would have been the only to prevent an insurgency. The Arab world would never accept American rule.

Soviets were a much bigger threat to the United States and World then the Mujahadeen and were also more evil then the mujahadeen and more evil then any other country in modern history except Nazi Germany.

You forgot to say 'insofar as these things are quantifiable'.

Insofar as these things are quantifiable, you're wrong.

Fun story: My dad's first boss in civil engineering worked for a company contracted to do some some public works project in Kabul. The guy had some really cool stories about the Saur Revolution.
